Observed a small round object shoot straight up into the sky and disappear in an instant.

My wife and I were on our pack porch which has an expansive hill country view. The sun had recently set and was below the horizon but the the sky was still very much lit up. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky.

We looked to the western sky and saw a small, round object that was very well lit up given its western position and the sun light which was illuminating it. I would estimate it to be about 10 miles or so away and at about 1000-2000 feet. Not that big of an object (maybe the size of a small car but perfectly round). Wife and I were both watching this thing because it was hard to miss and seemed very out of place. Basically, it was a WTF is that moment. While we were both starring at it, it shot straight up at a speed that made it disappear in an instant. There were no clouds in the sky. The time span of first noticing it to it shoot off was about 15-20 seconds.
