I was aged 7 or 8, heard a faint static noise approach from row of trees and saw a silver disc emerge, hovered @ 10 ft. above railroad.

It was in a warm month, estimated June, of 1972 or 1973. Daytime sometime between 12 pm and 5 pm Central. Estimated date/time. We spent a lot of time outside, since we had a crop/farm. Lived there for first 10 years of my childhood. That day, I had walked up the path from the barn to the front yard that leads to our house, and I heard a faint buzzing/crackling or electrostatic noise behind the row of trees that grew along the south end of the railroad (after those trees, there was a large clearing where we could view the railroad which was just feet from where the tobacco grew). The railroad was elevated higher than the tobacco, and we would see odd things on the tracks occasionally, such as a truck with rail track 'wheels' - these people worked for the railroad company. I wondered what the noise could be, I waited in excitement for it to emerge from behind the trees and was completely shocked at what I saw. A silver color disc shaped object came from behind the trees and was hovering about 10 feet above the railroad in the air. After it was in open viewing area it stopped moving forward and was slowly rotating in place for a few seconds, suspended in place, then proceeded to move forward again, following in the direction of the railroad, moving about 25 - 30 mph while still in the air about 10 feet over the tracks. While moving forward it was still rotating slowly, I could see that because of the way the sun was hitting it, shining on various spots- it was made of metal of some sort. What I was thinking at the time was - how is it staying in the air because there were no wings, no propellers, no visible engine, and no exhaust, and very little noise, but there WAS a sound, crackling electrostatic noise, not loud. It was not thick, not more than 5 feet tall at the center of the disc. Looked completely metal, same material all over. Saw no doors, no lights, but it was daytime, no lights needed, I guess. It was a clear day, blue skies, warm. You would have to have been outside to see it, since it was quiet and happened so quickly, then it was gone - I watched it as far as I could, it continued following the rail tracks, passed the barn, behind the barn, and disappeared out of sight. Haven't seen anything like it since. Besides family, I have only told 1 person, a co-worker who seemed interested in the encounter. Afterwards, my mom said she had been watching it from the front porch. I remember asking my mom if 'they' saw us or were they watching us when it paused in place, or were 'they' filming our land, etc. and did she think they would be back, kid questions. None of our neighbors ever mentioned it, they may have been at work or inside when it came through. I have thought about it often the past 50+ years, and thought it must have been the military, a project. I don't see how anyone could have been inside of it, the way it slowly spun while moving forward, they would have been dizzied right? I didn't get the feeling anyone/thing was in it, but who knows, that's a scary thought. It was just so futuristic looking, that was my mom's descriptive word for it -futuristic. It was interested in the train tracks, I guess. If it was the military, they are far more advanced they we have ever known! Also thinking back to that strange day in my life, we were very CLOSE to it, if we had a camera in our hands outside that day (we had a Polaroid buried in a closet somewhere) it would have been an up-close amazing photo, there was no way we were going inside while that was happening, we just stared in amazement and shock until it was gone. One of the top 3 things I would like to know before I die is - What was that thing? Who did it belong to? What was it doing? Where is it now? I will try to upload a photo of an aerial view of the property. I indicated in red where the barn used to be and where I was standing when I saw the flying object. The trees in the photo were mostly not there in 1973, only the ones to the south part of the tracks, it was an open view field toward the tracks. You may contact me if you would like, I left an e-mail below. (This was in Kentucky, but I live in Tennessee now).
