I was looking at the sky, trying to catch another glimpse of the auroras. This was day two of the active G5 solar flares reaching Earth’s atmosphere, making auroras visible as far south as northern California. The first night, Friday, May 10, 2024, was amazing! With a second chance on day two, I reclined back in my hammock swing. My patio faces south. Despite having no problems viewing auroras the night before, I watched and waited intently.

Suddenly, I saw a shadowy outline. It was the size of an airplane, about as high in the sky as if it were approaching a landing strip. There were no lights. It was completely silent, gliding by as if it were an eagle. There were no lights or hints of color. It was nearly transparent but I could see an outline. It was as if it was a ghost plane. Its pace was steady. By the time I processed everything, I flew out of my chair as it was leaving my line of sight. I ran to the back of my yard and caught one last glimpse of it as it disappeared over the roof and behind the trees.

When I saw it the second time, I knew what I saw was there. It was almost unexplainable. If it was a drone it would not be flown by civilians. It’s hard to believe any aircraft or drone this size could fly that low in the area without lights or sound. Its direction was northeast. It appeared to have three parts, like three cubes connected together forming a cylinder-like shape.
