Standing watch on the bridge wing and seen amber lights surround us and act strangely

I just submitted a recent sighting as well, but this sighting happened to me around 2015 and it was the craziest thing I have ever seen and I think this deserves to be shared too. So here it is!

I was in the navy and I had to stand watch outside on the bridge wings to report other ships or aircraft to the people watching our radars. It was a pretty clear night. We were out in the middle of the ocean, I have no idea where. But the only thing surrounding us was water. Miles of endless ocean.
It was maybe 12pm at night and all of sudden I see a ball of amber light in the sky, off to the starboard side of the ship. (Where im standing) maybe 45 degrees in the sky from where I am . Instantly, I'm mesmerized by this. It starts to turn on and off. Like it's there and then it's not. It does this a few times and then 2 more amber lights appear evenly spaced from the first one, in a horizontal line.

And all three of these lights start to streak across a small section of the sky and then go out. Then they reappear where they started. And they streak across again, go out, and reappear again where they started. And They streaked from left to right ( from fore to aft of the ship) in front of me, as I'm staring off the starboard side of the ship.

It reminded me of an LED construction sign. A broken one ha.
But as these 3 lights are doing this over and over. More amber lights show up, eventually surrounding the entire ship. I was in such awe I wasn't even reporting any of this, (which is my job) I felt completely fixed on what I was seeing.
The only lights that moved where the 3 streaking, the rest of the amber lights that appeared where just turning on and off over and over.

I believe the watch stander on the port side bridge wing radioed me asking me if I was seeing lights because he was seeing a bunch of amber lights in the sky on his side ( there's antennas that block that bridge wing view from me)
That's when I snapped out of it, and said, " YES, THEYRE EVERYWHERE!"
The people monitoring our radars got on the radio saying " you guys need to report stuff because we aren't seeing anything on our radars." Like they're frustrated with us.

I told them, I'm not sure how to report this. There's flashing orange lights surrounding the entire ship!

Then, they all disappeared just like that. Gone.

An officer came out to the bridge wing after they were all gone and asked what was going on. I told him there were orange balls of light surrounding the ship! He laughed and said ," they're probably just flares." And he walked away.
No one said anything else about it after the event.

It was incredible. And I couldn't see any shape of a craft. It was just these lights. 30 or more even! There was no sound.

But I wasn't afraid when I seen it. I felt strangley uplifted and felt a sense of high in those moments. I don't know if that's because I was just that bored on watch… but I felt almost sad when the lights all turned off.

And I don't remember if I even had my phone or if I tried to use it to take a picture or not. I remember not wanting to look away or miss it.

I hope you share my story! And I hope I explained this well enough that others can live it with me. I've never witnessed anything like this since. But I'm happy I experienced that moment.
