NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30, 2016
We have updated our website, and database of sighting reports, with the posting of 101 new, and newly revised, sighting reports, received since the afternoon of December 21st.
We always encourage visitors to our site, as they read the reports, to be on the lookout for flawed reports and hoaxes. We did not have as much time for proofreading the reports as we traditionally like to devote to that process, so we suspect that the new reports contain errors that escaped our attention, particularly with regard to the times and dates indicated therein.

- Davenport, Washington, Thursday, December 29th, 2016, @ 21:30 hrs. (PST)–A mother, and two of her children, witness, and photograph, a peculiar looking, distinctly red, light, hovering nearby, seen through their living room picture window. - Corning/Pocahontas, Arkansas, Monday, December 26, 2016, @ 05:45 hrs. (CST): An adult female reports having witnessed a smoky, “pillar” of green light, suddenly appear ahead of her car, illuminating the surrounding area for 10-15 seconds. The light suddenly just disappeared from her sight. Witness Report
- John Day Dam (30 miles east of; on Hwy. 14), Saturday, December 24th, 2016, @ 20:04 hrs. (PST): A young adult male and his girlfriend, as they drive east on the north side of the Columbia River, witness several very bright flashes of turquoise-green light that lit up the entire sky for an estimated 3 seconds, and which appeared to be centered directly above their vehicle. A few seconds later, the phenomenon occurred a second time. Witness Report
- Woodridge, Illinois, Friday, December 23rd, 2016, @ 19:30 hrs. (CST): An adult male witnesses a bright orange light in the night sky, and pulls out his camera to attempt to photograph it. The witness asserts that just as he took a photograph, a momentary flash of light occurred, which was allegedly captured by the camera. NUFORC shares the photo here, which arrived on the date of this posting. We have not had the photo analyzed yet to test for its authenticity, but will attempt to do so. RECENT ARTICLE ON THE SUBJECT OF CLUSTERS OF RED AND ORANGE “FIREBALLS”
For several years, NUFORC has been reporting on the many sightings of clusters of red, orange, and yellow “orbs,” or “fireballs,” which have been reported to NUFORC on a frequent basis, since approximately May of 2012. A very nice article on the subject, written by Mr. Bill Turner, just appeared in the Inquisitr magazine, which we share below. We express our gratitude to the author for his nice coverage of the subject, and for his recognition of NUFORCs role in calling the phenomenon to the attention of the public, over recent years.
We will post again in the next several days, to include several nice illustrations, which have been submitted by witnesses.

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 21ST, 2016
We have updated the NUFORC website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 61 newly received, or recently updated, reports, which have been submitted via our Online Report Form. As visitors to our website read through the new reports, we encourage them to please be on the lookout for errors in the reports, as well as hoaxes and pranked reports.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Peter Davenport, Center Director, will be away from the Center for several days over the Christmas Holiday, but will monitor on an infrequent basis the telephone Hotline, incoming e-mail, and reports submitted via our Online Report Form. If you believe you may have been witness to a UFO, we would like to encourage each witness to write a detailed, written description of the sighting, which contains all the details that a person would like to have, in order to be able to understand what the event looked like. Then, please submit that statement, using the Online Report Form, linked to on the left side of our homepage.
The purpose of the written report is both to preserve the facts surrounding your sighting, and to present them clearly enough that another person reading your description of the event will be able to understand clearly what the object looked like, and what it did. When composing your report, please bear in mind that the only things that another person will know about your sighting depends entirely on what you write about it, so please be thorough, and write as clearly as you can.
RADIO APPEARANCES
Peter is scheduled to appear on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, hosted by Mr. George Noory, on Friday, December 23rd, and again on Friday, December 30th during the following week. Peter usually appears at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific), and traditionally is allowed several minutes to briefly summarize a few of the more interesting reports, submitted during the preceding week.

- Lahaina, Hawaii, Saturday, December 10, 2016, @ 18:30 hours (local): An adult female, while driving east on Highway 30 toward Kahului from Lahaina, reports having witnessed a rectangular object, with very bright white, circular lights, dart across the road ahead of her. Witness Report
- Davie, Florida, Thursday, December 15, 2016, @ 2000 hrs. (EST): An adult male reports having witnessed a peculiar blimp-shaped craft, with a rectangular-shaped “panel” on the bottom of the craft. The object began to accelerate to the south-southwest, in the vicinity of airspace commonly used by commercial aircraft. Witness Report

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2016
We have updated our website on the evening of Thursday, December 15th, 2016, with the posting of 131 newly received, or newly revised, sighting reports.
We always encouraged visitors, when they read the reports, to be on the alert for errors, in particular, in the times and dates indicated by the sources of the report. We always attempt to identify those errors, and correct them, but we know from experience that we rarely manage to identify all of them.
Also, please be on the alert for prank reports, and reports of sightings of planets or stars. We are receiving many reports of sightings of Venus, which is visible in the southwestern sky during the early evening, and of the star, “Sirius,” which currently becomes visible in the southeastern sky, during the mid, or late, evening.
Three of the recent reports we feature below:
- Hale, Michigan, Tuesday night, December 13, 2016, @ : A mother and her adult son witness a yellow, rapidly strobing light fly generally in their direction from the northwestern sky. As the son attempts to get a better look at the peculiar object, he becomes aware of a bright orange object above their vehicle. Witness Report A similar report was submitted via the NUFORC UFO Hotline from near Lincoln, Michigan, for the same general time. We are awaiting a follow-up written report for that second sighting.
- Stevens Pass Ski Area, Washington State, Monday night, December 12, 2016, @ 1906 hrs. (Pacific): An adult male, who describes himself as an experienced commercial pilot, takes a series of photos of a peculiar blue object, which was seen to move, and maneuver, quickly in the nighttime sky. The witness witnessed the object with the naked eye, so it is not a so-called “lens flare.” Witness Report The witness provided the animated gif below.
- Port Washington, Wisconsin, Monday, July 4th, 2016, @ 2030 hrs. (Central): An adult male reports witnessing a very interesting, seemingly precisely structured, craft in the vicinity of the local fireworks display. The object was seen to move off from the area of the sighting to the southeast. Witness Report The witness provided the drawing below.

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 06, 2016
We have updated our database and website, as of this date. We apologize for the delay, but our recent travel schedules hampered our ability to update the site on our traditional weekly basis.
We have posted to our database approximately 410 new sighting reports, which have been either received, or revised, since Friday, November 11, 2016. Since we have proof-read them in a more hurried manner than is traditionally the case, we have not screened them as carefully as we typically like to do, so we encourage visitors to our site to be on the lookout for errors, and out-and-out hoaxes. Those reports that have been submitted by individuals who prefer to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information, deserve special scrutiny, we believe. Please report any suspected flaws or hoaxes to director@ufocenter.com, and we will address those reports as quickly as our time permits.
Following our posting of reports, we received a quite intriguing sighting report from a young woman in Huntington Beach, CA, who reports having witnessed a boomerang-shaped craft streak over her head in that city on Sunday night, December 04, 2016, at approximately 10:40 p.m. (Pacific). We copy below her written report, and we include the two very nice illustrations of the alleged sighting that she has provided, to accompany her report.

Summary: Fast-moving craft with gray lights over suburban Huntington Beach.
Description: “I’d just stepped out of my friend’s house after a comedic session of Dungeons & Dragons. We’d watched TV, talked about video games, the usual for our age group. A normal Sunday night. I was the last one to leave. I didn’t expect to see something in the sky, but then again, I don’t think anyone does. It was one of those rare cloudless nights where LA’s famous light pollution doesn’t ruin a decent view of the stars over the suburbs. I’m originally from a very small town, so I don’t take celestial beauty for granted. I looked up at the sky to admire the stars, and that’s when I saw it. My first thought was “airplane”, but this was immediately replaced by “drone?” because it was too fast for a commercial flight, and completely silent. And then I thought that it couldn’t have been a drone, because again, it was completely silent, and the most common drones are quadcopters. This thing was in the shape of a chevron, and dark gray. It was a little larger than the moon, which was slightly farther away. Another thing that perplexed me besides the speed were the lights. Three of them, one on each wing end and one under the middle corner, unblinking, and a dim gray. I’ve never seen gray lights in my life. The chevron was headed southeast, when suddenly, without slowing down, it made a sharp, tight U-turn, pivoted, and disappeared before my eyes. I didn’t blink, I didn’t look away for a second, and there were no clouds for it to hide behind. It was there, and then it was gone. I don’t think we have the technology to make planes turn the way this thing did.”

We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 147 new sighting reports, received since November 4th. Due to the hurried nature of this posting, we have not proof-read the reports as carefully as we traditionally aspire to do, so be alert to flaws in the reports. Since errors are so often made, with regard to the time and date of a sighting, we caution visitors to our website to be particularly alert regarding the possibility of errors in those two aspects of the reports.

We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 101 new reports, received since Friday afternoon, October 21st.
We encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for errors in the reports. We always attempt to detect and correct errors, particularly with regard to the times and dates of the reported sightings. However, we doubt that we detect all of the errors that may be in those reports, and we suspect that the new postings may include a few well-disguised hoaxes. Consequently, we urge visitors to our website to be cautious in what they accept at face value.
Thanks to the fine news coverage of one of our reports by the The Marietta Times, in Marietta, Ohio, we have confirmed that one of the reports we posted recently is the result of a launching of sky lanterns at a wedding reception. We compliment the journalist, Ms. Peyton Neely, for her willingness to cover a local report from Marietta, OH, which solved the case. Her article, which includes a photo of the event, can be seen here, It was instrumental in causing several individuals to come forward, who knew what the cause of the aerial display of lights had been. NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATE ON OCTOBER 11TH AND 13TH, 2016
Because of our webmaster’s absence during the first week of October, we were not able to update our website on Friday, October 7th, which would have been the day of the week that we normally update. Hence, we posted accumulated reports on Tuesday of this week, October 11th, and update the site again today, which brings us up to date with the latest reports. We have posted this week approximately 210 new reports, submitted since September 30th, 2016.
We have proof-read the new reports as carefully as our limited time allows, but we always encourage visitors to our site to be on the alert, when reading the reports. Many of the reports clearly are of sightings of objects other than authentic UFOs, and we have made every attempt to label those reports accordingly. In addition, some of the reports may be out-and-out attempts to hoax our Center, and the individuals who visit it, and we have attempted to identify and label those bogus reports. However, we probably are not always successful in that endeavor, so we urge visitors to our website to be discriminating, as the read the reports.

- Hilton Head, South Carolina, Saturday, September 10th, 2016, @ 0100 hrs. (EDT): Two adult women picked up an adult female friend at the Savannah, Georgia, airport, and were returning to the community of Hilton Head, when they saw what they thought was a meteor, streaking parallel to the horizon. Approximately one mile further down the road, an object the approximate size of a soccer ball streaked across their vehicle, passing above the hood of the car, and just ahead of the windshield. San Juan, Puerto Rico, Saturday, September 10th, 2016, @ 1820 hrs. (Local): A husband, his wife, and their two adult children witness a very strange spherical object overhead. The witnesses managed to capture a photo of the object, which disappeared from the witnesses’ sight, when a cloud obscured their view of it. A photo is shown at right. - New York City (Manhattan), New York, Sunday, October 9th, 2016, @ 1800 hrs. (EDT): An adult male, who describes himself as a former member of the U. S. Marine Corps, witnesses what appears to be a highly reflective sphere above the cloud layer. It first appeared to be a dark, perfectly round sphere, but it, nevertheless, seemed to the witness to reflect sunlight quite efficiently. The object appeared to have a small, blinking light, which blinked in an irregular fashion. Witness Report
- Ocean Shores, Washington, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, @ 1335 hrs. (PDT): A husband and wife witness a white-colored sphere, that appeared to have a flag-like structure attached to it. The object suddenly began to move away in the sky quite rapidly, and it simply disappeared from the witnesses’ sight, against a clear blue sky. Witness Sketch We include the husband’s report below:

We had just passed the Quinault Casino and state park on the main road to the Town of Ocean Shores, when my wife noticed an object in the sky. The sky was clear with, no clouds in the sky. The object was white, and had a strange tail, but the way this thing was positioned in the sky, the tail was going almost straight up, which should have had the object going down, but it seemed to be going south from us, and not losing any altitude, just moving away from us and getting smaller and smaller until it just disappeared.
I am an Air Force vet, and my job was airborne radar; this was no airplane or balloon. You could clearly see that the object was round, with this funny tail. The outline of the object was very clear, with no lights or identifying marks on it.
The sighting lasted about 1.5 minutes, until it was gone. It did not disappear over the horizon, it just got smaller until it was gone, remaining high in the sky.

NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON FRIDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 30, 2016
We have updated the website, with the posting of 162 new reports, received since the afternoon of September 22, 2016. We have proof-read the reports, to the greatest degree that time has allowed, but there are, no doubt, errors in many of the reports, and some of the reports may be out-and-out hoaxes. Regarding the latter, it is sometimes very difficult for us to distinguish between sincere reports and hoaxed reports, so we leave that decision up to those who visit our site to read the reports.
Some of the reports that seemed particularly intriguing to us appear below:
- Grand Junction, Colorado, June 10th, 2005, @ ~01:00 a.m. (Central): As a husband and wife were driving southbound on Interstate-70, they witnessed a round, dark, circular object, which appeared to have rectangular yellow lights on the side facing the witnesses. The object moved over the highway above them, and appeared to pass between two mountains to the east of the witnesses location. Witness Report
- Virginia Beach, Virginia, Friday, September 23rd, 2016, @ 2032 hrs. (EDT) [Note corrected time here. Report indicates 8:32 a.m., but should be 8:32 p.m..]: An adult male witnesses, and captures on video, what he believes was a tube-shaped craft, with strobing yellow lights. Witness Report
- Burlington, Vermont, Saturday, September 24th, 2016, @ 1815 hrs. (EDT): A husband and wife witness a strange-looking, cylindrical shaped object hovering in, and then exiting from, the airspace of the Burlington International Airport (BTV), while aircraft are using the facility. Witness Report
- Macungie, Pennsylvania, Saturday, September 24th, 2016, @ 2100 hrs. (EDT): An adult female reports witnessing eight in a straight-line formation, which appeared to be drifting from the western to southern sky. During the latter part of the 5-minute long sighting, the objects were witnessed by an adult male security guard, as well. Witness Report
- Eugene, Oregon, Sunday, September 25th, 2016, @ 2015 hrs. (PDT): An adult male, who describes himself as a former member of the military, as well as an amateur astronomer, reports witnessing a triangular craft, with orange lights on its ventral surface. The object began to rotate around its vertical access, and appeared to the witness to be able to perform some type of “cloaking” effect. Witness Report
- Coachella, California, Monday, September 26, 2016, @ 0520 hrs. (PDT): An adult female security guard reports having witnessed with her night vision device a formation of eight white lights, which moved very rapidly overhead, from east to west. When she removed her night vision device, she could not see the objects, but when she replaced the device over her eyes, she could see the objects again. The witness reports that the objects appeared to her to be shifting position very rapidly in the formation, as they moved rapidly to the west. Witness Report

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, SEPTEMBER 15, 2016
The NUFORC database was updated, with the posting of 112 new sighting reports, submitted to our Center since Friday afternoon, September 9th, 2016. In addition, the posting includes approximately 46 reports that have been amended or updated, over the past week.
Following our posting last week on September 9th, regarding whether visitors to our site felt it necessary for submitted written reports to be proof-read, before being posted, we received only three responses to our query. We conclude that most visitors to our site dont find the issue sufficiently important to warrant commenting on. Consequently, preferring to conserve our time, we will post most of the reports in “raw” form, unedited for grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc..

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 09, 2016
NUFORC has updated its website, as of this date, with the posting of 156 new reports, received since September 2nd, 2016.
NOTE: In several of our past weekly updates, we have requested that people who submit reports first proof-read them, before submittal. Our hope was to improve the quality of the reports, and to make them easier to read and understand.
Our appeal seems to have gone unheeded, given that the majority of incoming reports still are fraught with misspellings, grammatical errors, errors in punctuation, sentence spacing, fragment sentences, run-on sentences, etc.. We would like to emphasize that some of the reports are exquisitely well prepared, and bear the mark of skilled, and caring writers. However, the overwhelming majority of them seem to us to have been haphazardly composed, and we would like to change that situation.
To illustrate what a typical collection of “raw” incoming reports looks like, we have decided to post the bulk of this week’s reports with little, or no, proof-reading applied at all, save for eliminating profanity and personal information from those portions of the reports that appear on our website. We invite visitors to compare the reports posted this week, with those posted on prior dates, in order for people to compare reports that have been proof-read, with those with no amendment. We invite those individuals who read the reports to contact our Center, and to express their opinion as to which they prefer, “raw,” uncorrected, reports, or those that are spell-checked, and which have most of the errors corrected.
In the past, the Center’s Director has spent a great deal of time, usually tens of hours per week, correcting the flawed reports, so that they could be relatively easily read and understood by visitors to our website, and as the workload increases, we can no longer take the copious time to correct a growing volume of eyewitness reports. Hence, in the near future, we expect to implement a policy, whereby we will post only those reports that appear to us to have been carefully composed, and/or spell-checked, before they are submitted. We believe that if a person believes that he/she has been party to a UFO sighting, it is not too much for us to request that the witness submit a report that can be easily read and understood, and the meaning of which is unambiguous.
We will amend our Online Report Form with a statement summarizing our new policy, in the near future.
RADIO APPEARANCE
Peter Davenport, Center Director, is scheduled to make his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM, hosted by George Noory, on Friday night, September 09, 2016, at approximately 10:15 p.m. (Pacific). Peter will briefly discuss the recent explosion of the Falcon 9 missile, and the seemingly strange and anomalous object that was captured on video, at the instant the missile exploded. Various analyses of the footage have been conducted by several engineers and scientists, and the issue appears to us to be a subject of serious concern. A recent communication by a member of the Falcon 9 team seems to support our position, we believe.
We will post again, within the next several days, and hope to have more information on the Falcon 9 incident, at that posting.

- Teston (Kent), UK/England, Saturday, August 13, 2016, @ 2100 HRS. (LOCAL TIME): An adult male reports that while he was driving through the small village of Teston, in southeast England, he became aware of what appeared to be a very bright light, approaching at high speed. As it approached his location, he could determine that the object was not a conventional aircraft, and that it had different colored “panels” on its ventral surface. Witness Report
- Cape Canaveral, Florida, September 01st, 2016, @ 0907 HRS. (EDT): The Space X second stage missile caught fire and exploded, just as a very peculiar object, captured on video, is seen to move through the launch area. At this writing, not much is known about the fast-moving object, but it appears to be very peculiar, and highly anomalous. It was first called to our attention yesterday, Thursday, September 01st, by a professional driver in Florida, who was carefully reviewing a CNN video in slow motion, and noticed the object streaking across the screen. We provide below one of the still freeze-frame images he forwarded to our Center.
In addition, we provide below some preliminary analysis, provided to us by Mr. Gene Weed, who has reported that the object in the version of the video footage he has witnessed appears to be a solid, dimensional object. His comments and illustrations appear below:

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 25, 2016
The NUFORC website is updated, as of this date, with the posting of 107 new reports, submitted to our Center since late last week.
With fewer reports to screen this week than last, e.g. for grammar, punctuation, spelling, profanity, etc., we believe we have done a fairly effective job of either eliminating, or labeling, flawed reports. However, we always encourage visitors to our website to be skeptical, and to be on the alert constantly for reports that may describe something other than a “bona fide” UFO sighting.

- Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Saturday, August 13, 2016, @ 6:57 HRS. (EDT): An adult male, who describes himself as a former law enforcement officer, and a current private investigator, was driving north on U. S. Hwy 17, in the vicinity of a wind-turbine “farm” which is under construction on the west side of the highway. He glanced over to his left, in the direction of the wind turbines, and witnesses a silver-, or chrome-colored, disc-shaped craft, which initially was hovering motionless. He attempted to pull off the highway, in order to get a better look at the object, but when he momentarily glanced back toward where the object had been hovering, it was gone from sight. - Glendale, Kansas, Wednesday, August 17, 2016, @ 11:30 HRS. (CDT): A professional trucker on Interstate 70 had stopped his rig very close to Exit 238, in order to check the tie-down on his load. As he was walking around his trailer, a very large, dark shadow passed over him and his vehicle, moving at a velocity of approximately 50-60 miles per hour, he estimated. He looked up, expecting to see a very large blimp or aircraft, but he reports having seen nothing absolutely nothing above him, in the clear, blue, and cloudless sky! (NUFORC is awaiting the written report from the witness, who is still driving on a long trip. We hope to be able to post his written report sometime next week.)
- Columbia, Missouri, Tuesday, August 23, 2016, @ 1730 HRS. (CDT): An adult male, a businessman, was driving on Interstate 70, near Columbia, Missouri, when he witnessed a large, dark, object pass overhead silently. The first object was followed seconds later by a second, similar-looking object, which also was silent. When we inquired whether the object might have been large military aircraft, the witness initially said he couldnt be certain. However, when we inquired whether the object might have been a USAF B2 bomber, and he accessed a photograph of a B2, he averred that that might have been what he had witnessed. However, we are a bit surprised that a B2 can fly that silently, and that they fly in proximity to one another. If anyone witnessed B2 aircraft in the Columbia, Missouri, area, on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016, we would invite them to submit reports with that information. Witness Report

We updated the NUFORC website on Tuesday of this week, August 16th, with the posting of approximately 240 reports, and do so again today, in order to post some very interesting recent reports.
Please note that we believe we are receiving an unusually large number of reports that we suspect are hoaxes, but which appear, nevertheless, to be carefully prepared, and well-written. Consequently, we counsel caution, more so than what we have recommended in the past, regarding what visitors to our site accept as being accurate and sincere reports.

- Wethersfield, Connecticut, Monday, August 8th, 2016, @ 2135 hrs. (EDT): A young woman returns home, steps out of her vehicle, and suddenly becomes aware of a peculiar sound. She looks in the direction from which the sound seems to be emanating, and she suddenly sees a very peculiar, wedge-shaped object, hovering motionless in the night sky. - Los Angeles, California, Thursday, August 18, 2016, @ 2023 hrs. (PDT): An adult female, who describes herself as an experienced sky watcher and astronomer, reports having witnessed a very bright, distinctly red, “orb,” hovering in the nighttime sky, apparently in the general vicinity of Long Beach International Airport. A short time later, she witnesses an unidentified blue light in the south-southeast sky, approximately 20 degrees above the horizontal plane. - East Los Angeles, California, Friday, August 19, 2016, @ 0655 hrs. (PDT): After a husband sees his wife off to work, he turns around, and together with his two young daughters, they together witness a metallic craft, hovering in the morning sky, near the 710 Freeway. After approximately five minutes, the object allegedly accelerates straight up at very high velocity, leaving a misty looking trail behind it. Witness Report

NUFORC HOMEPAGE AND DATABASE UPDATED ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, 2016
We have updated the website, with the posting of 240 new sighting reports, received since the afternoon of Thursday, August 04th, 2016.
Given the high number of cases we have received recently, and which we have had to proof-read, there is a higher than normal likelihood that a few flawed reports have slipped through our screening process. Consequently, we encourage visitors to our website to be more vigilant than usual, during the course of reading either reports, or other material, on our site.
Several interesting cases have caught our attention, in the recent past, and we highlight them below:
- Providence, Rhode Island, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, @ 0530 hrs. (EDT): A husband and wife witness a distinctly red orb pass overhead and engage in complex maneuvers in the morning sky. Husband’s Report The wife’s report, which arrived just before we began updating the website, is copied below:
Description: Around 5:30 this morning, my husband was out in the back yard with our dog, when he began to shout for me to come outside quickly. I worried something was wrong, so I immediately ran outside, as he pointed to the sky. About a mile away, I saw a very prominent red circle or orb-like craft. There could have been a haze around it, but unsure if it was my eyes or not. The orb was definitive and red, though. I observed it and watched it in the sky as it was hovering.
Then it very quickly zigged to the right, and stopped again. It turned from red to white, then back to red… What I couldn’t believe was the way it flew to the side and stopped immediately, not a gradual stop or eased stop, but a full-on stop, like it hit a barrier, and how fast it was moving. It hovered a minute, then zigged left, stopped, and it appeared to gain some elevation, as it slowly proceeded to fly to the right, and out of view for a few seconds, when I caught a glimpse of it again through the houses.
I then observed it zing up into the sky so fast, I couldn’t believe it, and it was gone.
I am a well-educated professional, and I am telling you there is nothing I have ever seen or heard of that 1. Is as precise in stopping as that craft was, it defied physics. 2. Could move that fast, and still maintain such control, and 3. Could maneuver so quietly. No propellers or exterior engines were visible, and without any vapor trail or exhaust. It was scary, and intriguing, at the same time. I have no doubt what I saw was not from here.
- Edison, New Jersey, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, @ 0410 hrs. (EDT): An adult male reports having witnessed a slender, triangular-shaped object pass overhead, traveling from south to north, moving apparently at a very high angular velocity. The object was visible for an estimated 15-20 seconds. Several minutes later, the same witness allegedly observed two more identical looking objects fly overhead. - New York City (Manhattan), Tuesday, August 16, 2016, @ 0247 hrs. (EDT): An adult male reports witnessing a very bizarre streak of golden light, which he witnessed momentarily in his peripheral vision. Approximately two minutes later, he witnessed a similar event, but in a different of the morning sky. Witness Report
- Rochester, New Hampshire, Thursday, August 11, 2016, @ 2345 hrs.(EDT): A father, his daughter, and 5-6 police officers, witness at least three very peculiar looking triangular craft, seen hovering overhead. The police officers turned their emergency flashers on, and shone a bright flashlight beam at the objects. Father’s Report. - SeaTac, Washington, Thursday, August 11, 2016, @ 2200 hrs. (PDT): An adult male reports witnessing a “flying wing” shaped object, move very rapidly overhead. The object appeared to the witness to have no lights, and it passed across almost the entire sky in approximately 10-15 seconds. Witness Report
- Las Vegas, Nevada, Monday, August 08th, 2016, @ 0830 hrs. (PDT): A woman reports witnessing, and photographing, a “UFO” during a flight from Las Vegas. Object appears to us to be a USAF B2 bomber, passing relatively close to the witness’s aircraft. Not an authentic UFO. Witness Report

NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 02ND, AND AGAIN ON AUGUST 04TH, 2016
We have updated our database of sighting reports, with the posting on Tuesday, August 2nd, of 239 new reports, submitted to NUFORC since Friday, July 22nd, and with a second posting today, August 4th, of approximately 42 new reports, submitted over the past 48 hours. .
A large percentage of the reports were submitted in response to the dramatic re-entry event of the spent Chinese rocket, which was observed by witnesses in California, and in several other western states. The re-entry was first observed over California at approximately 9:35 p.m. (Pacific), on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, and it was observed by most witnesses for an estimated duration of approximately two minutes. Witnesses in Fresno, California, reported that the visible fragments appeared to pass almost directly overhead from their locations, and that they were moving generally to the southeast.
CORRECTION/RETRACTION
On Thursday night, July 28th, 2016, Peter Davenport, NUFORC Director, during an appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program, described a sighting that reportedly had occurred in the vicinity of Heber City Canyon at 2315 hrs. (Mountain Daylight Time) on Tuesday, July 26th, 2016. The source of the initial report describes the fact that automobiles were stopped along the roadway, and that the occupants were stepping out of their vehicles to watch a complex display of lights in the night sky.
After having spoken with the witness, a student, we have concluded that the time and date reported initially were flawed, and that the report addressed the dramatic re-entry event that occurred at approximately 2238 hrs. (MDT) on Wednesday night, July 27th. We apologize for the error, and false alarm about that sighting. We link here to the original report, the time and date of which we have corrected. Witness Report
Also, another witness, a resident of Buhl, Idaho, suggests that what she and her husband had witnessed from that city at approximately 2238 hrs. (MDT) on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016, was not the result of the re-entry event. We have reviewed the original report from this witness, as well as an addendum submitted by the same party, and we are left with the rather firm belief that what the two witnesses had seen was the re-entering space ullage that was reported to NUFORC by many dozens of other witnesses, located in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho. INTERESTING REPORTS

- Lowell, Massachusetts, Wednesday, August 03rd, 2016, @ 2331 hrs. (EDT): An adult male, together with another adult, witnesses, and photographs, two clusters of red lights seen hovering, almost motionless, above nearby city buildings. After several minutes, the lights simply fade from view. Witness Report
- Greendale, Wisconsin, Sunday, July 31st, 2016, at 2300 hrs. (CDT): A husband and wife report witnessing peculiar-looking, tiny white objects passing across the nighttime sky. At least one of the objects appeared to the witnesses to release two smaller objects, which then flew in opposite directions away from the object that had just released them. - St. Germain, Wisconsin, Saturday, July 30th, 2016, at 2245 hrs. (CDT): A father and his adult son report having witnessed two triangular shaped craft pass overhead at very high velocity, oriented in a nose-to-tail formation. - Shorewood, Illinois, Saturday, July 16, 2016, @ 2130 hrs. (CDT): A commercial pilot, with approximately 40 years of flight experience, reports sighting a distinctly red object, approximately three times the size of the planet, Venus, in the night sky, moving slowly from east to west. The object proceeded to the west for approximately three minutes, then abruptly accelerated almost vertically, and quickly disappeared from sight. Witness Report
Another sighting incident, reported by new media in St. Louis, Missouri, captured our attention this week, as well:
St. Louis, Missouri, Tuesday, August 2nd, 2016, at approximately 0215 hrs. (CDT): Two video clips were captured of a peculiar light, seen maneuvering in the vicinity of the St. Louis, Missouri, Gateway Arch. The object moves in a peculiar manner, and its intensity fluctuates. We do not know what the object is, and if the news media have succeeded in identifying the object, we are not aware of that fact, at the time of this writing.

We have updated our website, as of this date, with the posting of 120 new sighting reports, received since Friday afternoon, July 22nd, 2016.
We always encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for hoaxed reports, and this warning is more “a propos,” we believe, than ever in the past, given the fact that our Center seems to be receiving an unusually large number of hoaxed reports, both via its Online Report Form, and over its telephone Hotline. If you have a question about a report, please submit your comment to director@ufocenter.com, and we will attempt to address the issue, at our earliest convenience.
CORRECTIONS
On July 15th, 2016, we highlighted two reports on our homepage, one from Los Banos, California, and the other from Vandenberg AFB, California, and Peter Davenport, Center Director discussed both reports during his weekly appearance on the Coast to Coast AM radio program.
Regarding the first report, involving an alleged sighting of a strange, alien-looking creature, seen standing on the west side of Interstate 5, just south of Los Banos, Peter mispronounced the name of that city as “Los Ban-yose,” for which he apologizes. With that pronunciation, the word means “bath,” or “bathroom,” whereas the correct pronunciation should have been “Ban-ose.” The correct spelling of the name of the city, Los Banos, has no tilde above the letter, “n.” Peter expresses his gratitude to those radio listeners who noted his error, and sent messages.
Regarding the second report we featured last week, about alleged UFO-related events on, or near, Vandenberg AFB, north of Los Angeles, several people contacted our Center about some of the information provided in that report. Several people questioned whether the USAF SR-71 can fly at 3,500 miles per hour, and still others commented that they were unable to find information about a single-stage missile, call “Blue streak.” For the benefit of visitors to our site, we copy “in toto” the comments from one reader. At this time, we take no definitive position with regard to the report, except to convey our gratitude to the gentleman who submitted it, who seemed to us to be quite sincere in his description of the events described.
We welcome additional comments from readers, particularly from those who may have been stationed at Vandenberg AFB, or who are personally familiar with some of the technical issues addressed by the report.

Upon more research, a few more details of this report got my attention that just don’t seem to add up–reasons given with citations. Now, it’s not my intention to de-bunk any witness out of hand. However, I’m concerned this subject gets ridiculed when claims appear to be on shaky ground. Honestly, I’m unsure about the reasons for this level of inaccuracy–it’s only for your consideration. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to supply analyses which help support/augment the witness, as what I did for sighting S122278.

“I have witnessed several incidents, while launching Atlas D missiles from South Vandenberg (Point Arguello), LF04 & LF05.”
Launch facility 04 (LF-04) is located on the far north end of Vandenberg AFB. It was used to launch the Minuteman IA, Minuteman II, Minuteman III.
Launch facility 05 (LF-05) is also located on the far north end of Vandenberg AFB. It was used to launch the Minuteman IA, Minuteman II, Minuteman III, and Peacekeeper.
Atlas D and Atlas F were launched from Complex 576A-576G, all on the north half of the base. Those launch sites located south near Point Arguello are PALC-C, SLC-5, SLC-6, and SLC-8, None of these sites appear to have been involved in Thor or Atlas launches.
“At the time, the launch films were classified as Secret. If they still exist, they would likely be held wherever SAC stored such data, after turning the base over to NASA. “
Vandenberg AFB is currently active, and was never “turned over to NASA”. In fact, the opposite is true. In 1972, Vandenberg was selected as the West Coast Space Shuttle launch and landing site. Due to technical problems and the Challenger disaster in 1986, this resulted in the official termination of the Shuttle program at Vandenberg on 26 December 1989.
“A comment on the film, “Out of the Blue”, where it describes an incident at VAFB where a UFO supposedly shot lasers at, and disrupted, what appeared to be a Titan Delta flight; I was at VAFB at the time of the first Titan augmented flights and no such incident happened that I was aware of.”
So I just watched the documentary. The incident in question happened in 1964. It involved a tracking site in Big Sur,124 miles north, while filming an Atlas missile launch at Vandenberg.
One last observation regarding “Duration: 30 minutes (each)” If each incident was observed for 30 minutes, was the UFO still following the missile? Did it stay in the launch area, or follow the missile into space? At around 3 minutes, an ICBM would be in space (apogee) and very far downrange.

- Rochester, New York, September 25, 2012, @ 1913 hrs. (EDT): An experienced photographer captures several photographs of a cluster of lights moving across the evening sky, near Braddock Bay, Lake Ontario (photos below). After several minutes, the objects moved off to the northeast. Witness Report.
- Lapel, Indiana, July 14, 2016, @ 2330 hrs. (EDT): An adult male reports witnessing a silver-colored sphere, approximately the size of a basketball, pass very close to his neighbor’s house. It seemed to leave a silver-colored “trail” behind it, as it moved through the nighttime sky. The object was below the level of the nearby trees, which allowed him to estimate the size of the object accurately. Witness Report

We have updated our website, as of the date indicated, with the posting of approximately 122 recent reports, submitted to our Center since Friday, July 08th, 2016.
Some of the reports that caught our attention are the following:
- Vandenberg AFB, California, 1965-1978 (multiple events reported): A retired senior aerospace engineer, who was assigned to Vandenberg AFB for 13 years, describes the several sightings of anomalous objects, which were both witnessed, and photographed, during missile launches from that facility. He writes that appearances of UFOs during launches was widely known among senior staff and engineers. Witness Report

(PDT): Two adults and a 12-year old youth, report a brief sighting of a strange-looking upright creature, which was seen standing on the west side of Interstate 5, and which was wearing a cape-like garment, and a “hoody” over his head. One of the adults felt that he had seen the creature’s face quite well, and it was distinctly non-human in appearance. Witness Report

We have updated our website, with the posting of 299 new, or revised, sighting reports, either received, or revised, since noon on Friday, June 26th, 2016.
We have proof-read all of the reports, this week, but only in a cursory and hurried manner. Consequently, there is an unusually large likelihood that there are some reports among those posted, which are hoaxes, or cases of mistaken identity. Therefore, we encourage visitors to our website to be discriminating, as they read through them.
SIGHTINGS ON THE EVENING OF MONDAY, JULY 4TH, 2016
We would like to call special attention to the 61 sightings for the evening of Monday, July 04th, 2016. Many, or perhaps all, of the reports appear to us to be not related to fireworks displays, which raises the question of what the objects observed may have been. A similar phenomenon can be seen for the date of July 4th during prior years.

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, JUNE 24, 2016
At the time of this update, we have posted 123 newly received, and 43 recently amended, sighting reports, received, or amended, since the afternoon of Thursday, June 16th, 2016.
At every update, we always caution visitors to our website to be on the outlook for pranks, or flawed reports. Given the high volume of pranks we currently are receiving over the UFO Hotline, that cautionary note is more pertinent that ever before. If a visitor detects an error in the reports, or what he/she believes may be an overt attempt to pass off a hoax as a serious report, we respectfully request that the party send a brief note to director@ufocenter.com, and we will address the issue as quickly as possible.
There are a number of what we believe are exceedingly interesting reports, this week, which we feature below, and which Peter will address during his weekly appearance on Coast to Coast AM ((LINK)), hosted by Mr. George Noory. - Idaho City (10.6 miles northwest of), Idaho, Sunday, June 19th, 2016, @ 0117 hrs. (MDT): An adult male, with considerable military service in both the U. S. Navy and U. S. Air Force, awakens from sleep, and immediately becomes aware of a pulsing “pressure,” or a low-pitched sound. He peeks out from his tent, looking for anything that might explain the phenomenon, but sees nothing, at first. He quickly realizes that even though the sky is clear and cloudless, he is unable to see stars overhead. He then realizes that an immense triangular craft is hovering over his remote campsite! - Jacksonville, Florida, Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, @ 0031 hrs. (EDT): While viewing the Moon’s terminator with a 4.5-inch reflector telescope, an experienced amateur astronomer witnesses a peculiar-looking, dark, five-sided object pass through the field of view of his telescope, and across the face of the Moon. The only explanation of terrestrial origin he can imagine is that a satellite in low-Earth orbit passed through his field of view, but that possibility does not seem to explain the peculiar shape of the object. - Billings, Montana, Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, @ 2255 hrs. (MDT): An adult male employee, on break from work, looks up at a jet aircraft, which is flying from east to west, and suddenly notices that it is being followed by a small yellow-, or orange-colored, light. He quickly calls the aircraft and trailing light to the attention of his co-worker, and both men continue to watch the aircraft for several seconds. As they watch, they are quite surprised to see the light apparently maneuver below, and ahead of, the aircraft. NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATE ON THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2016
We have posted 100 new, and newly revised, sighting reports, submitted to our Center, or revised, since Thursday afternoon, June 09, 2016.
Please be on the lookout for what may be frivolous, or prank, reports, which appear to have increased in frequency, recently. Those reports that we believe have the highest likelihood of being hoaxes are from anonymous sources, so we have labelled those reports in both the “Summary” and “Description” boxes of the report forms.
Some of the reports that caught our attention this week are the following:
- Joshua Tree, California, June 4th, 2016, @ 2200 hrs. (PDT): Approximately 100 attendees of the Contact in the Desert UFO conference were treated a very interesting display of lights, which were observed both by the naked eye, and with night vision devices. Ms. Melinda Leslie, a former MUFON investigator and MUFON Board Member for Orange County MUFON, and some of the attendees at the night sky viewing party she hosted, succeeded in filming some of the objects, and they have generously shared with NUFORC some of the interesting footage captured, which can be seen here.(Video compliments of Oklahoma UFO Paranormal Team members Dick and Marilyn Carlson, Yukon, OK). - Another sighting was reported for the day before the conference: Witness Report. The report was accompanied by this video. We have looked at the video, and our impression is that the object may be a helium-filled balloon, with something suspended below it, but we cannot be sure. NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, JUNE 10TH, 2016
We have updated the NUFORC website, with the posting of 126 sighting reports, received or revised since the afternoon of June 3rd, 2016.
We always warn visitors to our website to be on the alert for the possibility of prank reports among those we post, but we do so even more fervently than has been the case in the past, given the number of prank calls that currently are being placed to our telephone Hotline. We have attempted to remove all the obviously hoaxed reports, but there are other reports which, although of suspicious nature, we have left in the collection of reports that we have posted.
PRANK TELEPHONE CALLS TO OUR HOTLINE; CHANGE OF POLICY
Since the phenomenon began, on or about March 6th, 2016, approximately 2,500-3,000 prank telephone calls have been placed to our telephone Hotline, most of them by youth. As the reader might expect, we have made a myriad of requests to the callers to refrain from placing frivolous, rude, and sometimes profane, calls to our Hotline, but those requests, in most cases made in a civil manner, appear to have fallen on deaf ears, and the phenomenon continues.
Over the course of recent weeks, we have noted a number of consistencies in the calls, which make us suspect that they may be being influenced, or perhaps even “orchestrated,” by a single source. We are aware of the statements made on the two websites, www.magazine8.com, and www.ifunny.com, encouraging visitors to those sites to place prank calls to our UFO Hotline, but the consistent nature of many of the calls placed by the young, inconsiderate, miscreants who place multiple calls to our Hotline seems to go well beyond what one would expect for a randomly selected group of hundreds of young people. Hence, we conclude that NUFORC may be under attack, and someone may be acting, with the intent of trying to put our operation out of business.
Consequently, if the nuisance calls do not abate in the near future, we may alter our Hotline operations, such that only messages may be left on the Hotline we will not answer the calls on a live basis and we will return only those calls that appear to us to have been placed by adult, and serious-minded, callers. We share this fact with visitors to our site, principally so they will not be surprised if they call our Hotline, and hear a message that is not familiar to them.
If you are an adult, and a serious caller, please just leave a message, and we will return it, at our earliest convenience. The only exception is if we see a listing of “Unknown Caller,” or “Unknown Number” for your call in Caller ID, in which case we probably will not return your call, assuming that the call has been placed by a party who wishes to remain anonymous.
We apologize for any inconvenience this changes may be to callers to our Hotline, but it is mandatory change, if our Center is going to be able to continue to provide high-quality UFO data to the public.

- Yakima (Cliffdell), Washington, Saturday, June 04th, 2016 @ 2030 hrs. (PDT): A husband and wife were camping at Sawmill Flats Campground, and at dusk, noticed a red orb on the other side of the Naches River, at a distance of approximately 100 yards. The ball of light appeared to split into two similar balls of light, which may have rejoined. The light was later joined by, and merged with, a blue light, which approached from the west. Peter will discuss the dramatic meteor that was witnessed above Nevada and Arizona during the early morning of Thursday, June 2nd, 2016. Photo of Trail in Sky. - Eastpointe, Michigan, Friday, May 27th, 2016 @ 2305 hrs. (EDT): Two medical co-workers witness a peculiar blue light, moving slowly from west to east in the northern sky. The object comes to a complete stop, and after a short period of time, three or four smaller objects, also blue in color, were released from the bottom of the larger object. After a minute or so, the smaller objects returned to, and entered, the larger craft, shortly after which, the larger crafts color shifted from blue to vivid red. The larger craft then reportedly descended vertically, and disappeared from the witnesses sight beyond the horizon. The area of the sighting is approximately 6-8 (statute) miles southwest from Selfridge AFB. Witness Report 1 Witness Report 2
- Pt. Charlotte, Florida, Friday, May 27th, 2016, @ 2355 hrs. (EDT): After closing the garage door to his home, an adult male, who describes himself as a multi-thousand hour instrument-rated pilot, turns around and witnesses a disc-shaped craft, approximately 60 feet in diameter, hovering within 150 feet of his location. The witness runs into his home to obtain a camera, and exits his house, just in time to see the object accelerate dramatically rapidly, and disappear from his sight within 1-2 seconds! Witness Report
- Aurora, Colorado, Saturday night, May 28th, 2016, @ 2225 hrs. (MDT): An adult male, who describes himself as an amateur astronomer and an astronomical photographer, witnesses in the western sky a rapidly, and erratically, moving object, approximately three times the apparent size of Jupiter. When the witness first observed the object, it was directly below Jupiter. After approximately three minutes, the color of the object reportedly suddenly changed to an emerald green, and the object began a slow descent, exhibiting a “falling leaf” pattern, as it did so. The object then arrested its descent and hovered in the night sky, during which time its color alternated from red to green, and back to green, several times. The object then suddenly accelerated to the north, and disappeared in the northern sky. Three similar objects are reported to have approached the area, where the original object was last seen, shortly after it disappeared. Witness Report

NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1ST, 2016
The NUFORC homepage has been updated as of the afternoon, June 1st, 2016, with the posting of 101 newly received reports, and 7 revised reports.
Given the high volume of prank telephone calls our Center has been receiving (see statement below), we strongly suspect that some of the written reports also may be attempts to hoax both us, and those visitors to our website who read the reports. Hence, we encourage everyone who reads the posted reports to be on the alert for possible pranks, and in particular, with regard to those reports that have been submitted by individuals who elect to remain totally anonymous, and who provide no contact information. We apologize for this inconvenience, but we have no control over what people submit, using our Online Report Form.
PRANKS AND HOAXES
Since March 6th, 2016, which is when the problem suddenly began, our Center has been deluged with prank calls, many from the most rude, impudent, and inconsiderate people you can imagine. At present, our Center is receiving 50-80 prank calls per day.
We do not understand what the ultimate cause of the sudden “explosion” in the volume of prank calls is, although we have tracked down a website, www.magazine8.com , which apparently originates out of India, that encourages its visitors to submit prank calls to our UFO telephone Hotline. That website may be the cause of the prank calls, but over the course of the past three month, we have detected certain consistencies to many of the calls, which suggest to us that the calls may be being “orchestrated” by a single source. The callers, most of them youth, often behave as if following a script, which suggests to us that there may be more to the unfortunate phenomenon than we are aware of.
If anyone knows what is motivating the prank callers to telephone our Hotline, we would welcome a brief e-mail (not a phone call, please!!), sharing whatever information you may have about the matter. Thank you!

Peter Davenport, Center Director, will make a two-hour appearance on the Jeff Rense Radio Program on Wednesday night, June 1st, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (PDT). Jeff and Peter will host at least four sets of guests, who have submitted written reports about their respective, dramatic sightings. The reports that will be discussed are featured below, in the order in which the guests will appear:
- Pt. Charlotte, Florida, Friday, May 27th, 2016 @ 2350 hrs. (EDT): An adult male, who describes himself as an experienced instrument-rated private pilot, glances across the street from his house, and witnesses a disc-shaped object, approximately 60 feet in diameter, hovering in the night sky, approximately 60 feet above ground level, and not more than 150 feet distant from his location. The object suddenly accelerated, and streaked out of sight in less than two seconds, the witness estimate. Witness Report
- Eastpointe, Michigan, near Selfridge AFB, Friday, May 27th, 2016 @ 2305 hrs. (EDT): Two adult medical professionals, a male and female, witness a blue light move across the night sky, stop, drop three or four objects out of the bottom of it, and change its color to deep red. After approximately two minutes, the object appeared to the witnesses to descend almost vertically, and disappear from their sight. Witness Report 1 Witness Report 2
- Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Friday, May 20th, 2016, @ 2226 hrs. (PDT): A husband and wife, while sleeping on their moored sailboat in Beauty Bay, Lake Coeur d’Alene, are suddenly awakened by violent rocking of their boat, and by intensely bright white light, which was streaming into the cabin. The husband walked up to the top deck, and witnessed a strange object, which was projecting a bright beam of light, which was circling the sailboat. - Aurora, Colorado, Saturday, May 28th, 2016 @ 22:25 hrs. (MDT): An adult male, experienced in astronomy and viewing an photography of the nighttime sky, witnessed a bright red object, approximately three times the apparent size of the planet Jupiter, he estimated, in the western sky. The object was changing colors, alternating from green to red, and it appeared to be moving abruptly, or rapidly. He witnessed the object for at least three minutes, he estimates, before it moved off to the west, and disappeared from his sight. Witness Report
- Seattle (Wallingford community), Washington, Friday, May 20th, 2016, @ 2205 hrs. (PDT): An adult male witnessed, and video-taped, five bright orange lights from his location in the Wallingford District. The lights appeared as though they might have been over the University of Washington campus, initially, and they then moved west, suddenly turned south, appeared to accelerate, and disappeared in the southern night sky, in the direction of Seattle. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON THURSDAY, MAY 26TH, 2016
We have updated the NUFORC website, with the posting of 74 new sighting reports, received at our Center since Friday afternoon, May 20th, 2016.
We always urge visitors to our site to be on the lookout for errors and prank reports, as they read the newly posted reports. Our Center is receiving an unusually large number of hoaxed telephone reports, and we suspect that the problem probably spills over to the written reports. Consequently, there probably is a significant likelihood that some of the written reports that have been posted are something other than serious-minded descriptions of genuine UFO sightings.
Some of the reports that caught our attention, this week, are highlighted below:
- Brighton, Colorado, Wednesday, May 25th, 2016, @ 0900 hrs. (MDT): An adult female reports witnessing three “white, circular” objects move rapidly across the morning sky. They disappeared to the northeast of her position. She telephoned a local television news station, which had received no other reports of the event. Witness Report
- Carlsbad, California, Tuesday, May 24th, 2016, @ 0630 hrs. (PDT): A husband and wife witness a strange, and rather large, “patch” of white light on the horizon, as they looked out over the Pacific Ocean. The witnesses at first assumed that the object was a cruise liner, but quickly rejected that theory. They went inside their home, and returned to continue observing the object, but it had disappeared from the horizon during the approximately five minutes that it had been out of sight of the witnesses. In a telephone conversation, the husband reported to NUFORC that they had looked at the object with 7 X 50 binoculars, and they could see no structure that was suggestive of a ship. Witness Report
- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sunday, May 22nd, 2016, @ 2200 hrs. (EDT): Two adults witness a “fiery, triangular” object lift off the ground near the beach, rise slowly into the sky, and then move off at a steady pace to the south. Witness Report
- Seattle (Wallingford District), Washington, Friday, May 20th, 2016, @ 2200 hrs. (PDT): NUFORC received two reports from different witnesses, describing a sighting of a cluster of 3-5 bright red lights, seen hovering in the eastern nighttime sky. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, MAY 20, 2016
We have updated our website and database, as of this date, with the posting of 130 new sighting reports, received since the morning of Tuesday, May 10th. In addition, we post 13 recently amended past reports.
As visitors to our site read the reports, we urge them to be on the alert for flawed and hoaxed reports, principally among those that have been submitted by anonymous sources. Some of the reports submitted by anonymous sources appear to be of high quality, and therefore, probably are reliable, but many anonymous reports, we suspect, are submitted by individuals who do not wish to have to answer detailed questions about their reports.
The issue of prank reports notwithstanding, there nevertheless appears to us to be an unusually high percentage of particularly interesting reports among those we post today. We feature a few of the interesting reports that caught our attention, as we proof-read them, in preparation for posting:
- Minot AFB, North Dakota, September 15, 1966 (est.) @ morning: A former USAF launch control officer (1st Lieutenant, at the time of the incident) recounts his experience regarding a UFO incident, which seems to have caused his flight of Minuteman missiles to “go offline,” and become inoperable. The incident is also addressed in a documentary on the subject, produced by Dr. Robert Hastings, Ph.D.. Witness Report
- Jemez Springs, New Mexico, September 18, 2015, @ 22:20 hrs. (MDT): A adult male reports having witnessed two “diamond shaped” craft fly overhead at high speed. Witness Report
- Shanghai, China, Thursday, May 12, 2016, @ 23:20 hrs. (local): A husband and wife were outdoors, walking their dog, when the husband suddenly becomes aware of a strange looking triangular craft passing overhead at a very high (angular) velocity. The object was moving so rapidly that the wife was able to witness only the very last part of the sighting. Witness Report

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON TUESDAY, MAY 10, 2016
We have updated the website, with the posting of 59 new, and newly amended sighting reports. Approximately 48 of those reports have been submitted since the afternoon of Thursday afternoon, May 5th, 2016.
Tragically, our Center is being deluged with prank reports, both over our telephone Hotline, and, we believe, via our Online Report Form, as well. Consequently, it is even more important now than it has been in the past that those visitors to our website recognize that not every posted report can be relied on to be an accurate and honest account of an authentic sighting of something unusual.
Here is one of the more interesting reports NUFORC has received recently:
Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Friday, @ 22:30 hrs. (PDT): A husband and wife are asleep in their sailboat, which was anchored in Beauty Bay, located in the northeast corner of Lake Coeur d’Alene, when they were both suddenly awakened by bright light, streaming through the boat’s portholes. Also, the boat was being jostled about, quite significantly. The husband went on deck, and quickly observed that an object in the night sky was illuminating their boat with a very bright shaft of light. NUFORC HOMEPATE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, MAY 06TH, 2016
We have updated our website and database of sighting reports, as of this date, with the posting of ninety new reports, received since the afternoon of Friday, April 29, 2016.
As we have reported in the past, our Center is being inundated with prank calls over our Hotline, and we suspect that the unfortunate trend has spilled over to those written reports that have been submitted recently via our Online Report Form. Consequently, we always caution visitors to our website to be on the alert for reports that may be attempts to mislead the people who read them. In attempt to improve a reader’s ability to assess whether a report is authentic, or not, we have begun a policy of indicating in the “Summary” box whether a report has been submitted by a source who remains anonymous. We believe that those reports submitted by anonymous sources may be more suspect than those that are submitted by parties who identify themselves by name, and who provide accurate contact information.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES
Peter Davenport, Center Director, is one of several scheduled speakers who will present at McMinnville UFO Festival to be held in McMinnville, Oregon, from May 12-15, 2016. Peter is scheduled to speak at 10:00 a.m. (PDT) on Saturday, will speak on the “Phoenix Lights” event, focusing on the many reports he received, as that dramatic event was unfolding.
NOTICE
Since Peter will be out of town, and away from the NUFORC headquarters and Hotline, he will not be able to answer incoming telephone calls after Tuesday morning, May 10. Hence, we would be most grateful if people would refrain from telephoning the Hotline, except for the most urgent and serious issues, and submit their sighting reports, using our Online Report Form. Peter will monitor the Hotline as he travels, but he may not be able to respond to all but the most important messages.

- Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona, Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, @ 1200 hrs. (PDT): A veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps witnesses a cluster of disc-shaped craft hovering in the vicinity of Sky Harbor Airport. The objects maneuvered relative to each other, suddenly formed into a straight line, and quickly disappeared from the sight of the witness. Witness Report
Montreal, Missouri, Sunday, May 1st, 2016, @ 0201 hrs. (CDT): A mans game camera captures an image of two clusters of peculiar lights in the nearby forest. We at NUFORC have no reason to believe that the lights are in any way UFO-related, but we find the lights to be of interest, in view of the report that appears below. Witness Report
- St. Paul, Minnesota, Wednesday, May 4th, 2016, @ 2135 hrs. (CDT): A man reports witnessing a peculiar “stack” of four brilliantly bright red lights, which descend across the night sky at an estimated 45 degree angle to the horizon. The lights disappear behind a nearby building. Witness Report

PUBLIC APPEARANCES
Peter Davenport, Director, is scheduled to speak at the McMinnville UFO Festival, sponsored by McMenamins Hotels, to be held in McMinnville, Oregon, during May 12-15, 2016. The focus of the Festival this year is the dramatic “Phoenix Lights” event that occurred over the southwest United States on March 13, 1997, perhaps the most blatant and dramatic UFO event in the history of modern ufology. The line-up of speakers can be seen here.
Also, Peter is scheduled to make a presentation at the Ritzville, Washington, public library sometime in July 2016. We will post more information about this event, once the date July has been set.

- Alto, New Mexico, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, @ 2100 hrs. (MDT): An adult female reports having witnessed a large triangle in the western sky, which exhibited three white lights in each of the corners of the triangle, and a blinking red light in the center of the ventral surface. The object appeared to be trailed by a cluster of blinking white lights, and military aircraft appeared to the witness to be in proximity to the objects. The object was approximately the size of a twenty-five cent piece, held at arm’s length. Witness Report
- South Kingstown, Rhode Island, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, @ 1445 hrs. (EDT): An adult male, who describes himself as a senior public servant, witnesses a peculiar gold-colored object, that appears suspended above nearby electrical power lines. The object appeared to the witness to be spinning at high speed, and may have frightened a nearby flock of birds. Witness Report
- Ft. Collins, Colorado, Sunday, April 24, 2016, @ 0230 hrs. (MDT): A security employee, who describes himself as a former senior DOD employee, witnesses an orange sphere in the distance. It immediately draws his attention because it is moving at high speed, and parallel to the horizon. The witness reports that the modern cell telephone system used by the security firm suddenly began to act bizarrely shortly after the event, and continued to do so for several hours. Later in the morning, the telephone system appeared to restore itself to normal, and no faults could be found with the system. Witness Report

NUFORC HOMEPAGE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2016
We have updated the homepage, with the posting of 96 new reports, received since April 15th. Regarding the possibility of encountering flawed reports among the new postings, please see our statement below about prank telephone calls to our UFO Hotline.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Because of the recent deluge of prank telephone calls our Center has received recently over its UFO Hotline [(206) 722-3000], we may have to curtail receiving live calls over that line, at least temporarily.
Since the first week of March, our Center has received approximately 800-1,000 prank calls from, typically, rude, impudent, and oftentimes foul-mouthed young trouble-makers, and this foolishness has begun to take a toll on our traditionally cheerful nature, and our willingness to continue to operate the hotline on a “live” basis. Some of the repeat offenders we can “weed out” by monitoring Caller ID, but not all of them, and we simply no longer wish to be subject to this type of thoughtless, juvenile behavior.
Consequently, we invite serious-minded callers to use our Hotline just as they normally would, but with the expectation of receiving a follow-up return call to a number, and at a time, that is convenient for them. If you would please leave your name, your telephone number, and a brief, e.g. one sentence, description of your sighting, we will return your call as quickly as our schedule permits. WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF YOU WOULD PLEASE NOT LEAVE A LENGTHY, DETAILED, VERBAL DESCRIPTION OF YOUR SIGHTING ON THE ANSWERING SERVICE! Rather, we would invite you to please submit a detailed written report, using our online report form as soon as possible, following your call. Having the written report available when we place a return call will be helpful to us for asking the correct questions, when we finally speak with the witness.
We apologize for this new policy, but it is the only way we will be able to continue offering our service to the public.
Also, we would like to take this opportunity to encourage parents and grandparents to monitor closely their children’s use of cell telephones. We seriously doubt that parents would allow their children to behave in the manner that we have witnessed so many times, if only they knew what the children are doing with cell telephones.

- Seattle, Washington, Friday, April 22, 2016, @ 0030 hrs. (PDT): A young woman and her boyfriend, while standing on their back porch, witness a black, unlighted, “seed-shaped” object, seen hovering in the nighttime sky (see drawing). The object was difficult to see, until it moved closer to the full moon in the nighttime sky, at which time it seemed to be more prominent. The object moved off slowly into the night sky. - Light, Arkansas, Thursday, April 21st, 2016, @ 2340 hrs. (CDT): A professional driver, driving eastbound on Highway 412, observes a bright flash of light behind his truck, and his attention is suddenly drawn to an intensely bright light, visible in his rear-view mirror. Within seconds of the initial sighting, a very bright white object streaks ahead of his truck on the left side, which appears to be “pulsing,” and it disappears into the night sky. Witness Report
- Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Saturday, April 16, 2016, @ 1800 hrs. (PDT): A young woman, trained as an engineer, witnesses a dark, circular object, above downtown Vancouver, which she at first thought might be a balloon. Then she realized that two men on the roof of a nearby multi-story building also were observing the object, and they seemed to be quite intrigued by it. It was at about that time that the woman suddenly realized that there was something quite strange about the object, and the manner in which it was moving, and she awakened to the fact that the object was disc-shaped, and not shaped like a sphere. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON FRIDAY, APRIL 15, 2016
Our webmaster is now back at his computer, following almost a week of travels, which allows us to update our website, this week. We post almost 179 new reports, received since April 1st, together with a number of older reports, which for one reason or another, we have revised and updated.
We have read all of the newly posted reports, but we intentionally have not edited them to the degree that we traditionally have done in the past. Typically, a significant fraction of new reports have required major editing to make them comprehensible, a process that takes a great deal of our time, and one that we would like to avoid, if possible. Hence, we would like to hear from regular visitors to our website whether careful editing seems to be necessary, in order for the reports to be worthwhile.
Also, we encourage visitors to our site to always be on the lookout for any oversights that have escaped our attention. A constant stream of hoaxed reports are submitted to our Center, and we always attempt to delete, or “flag” them, but we suspect that there are flawed reports that escape our attention and slip through our system. If a visitor to our site encounters what he/she believes may be a flawed report, please send a notice to director@ufocenter.com, and I will address the issue at my earliest convenience.

- Hayward, California, April 11, 2015, @ 2355 hrs. (PDT): Just over a year ago, an adult male was driving across the San Mateo Bridge, when his van was filled with a blinding green light. He looked out to the right side of his van, which is the side the light seemed to have emanated from, and witnessed a very large, green disc, which appeared to be pacing the driver’s van. The witness reports that even though he got only a brief glimpse of the craft, he was able to get a very good look at its dorsal surface, and was surprised by the peculiar “electrical circuit” nature of the pattern. - Krotz Springs, Louisiana, Saturday, April 09, 2016, @ 2120 hrs. (local): A group of eight adult witnesses were sitting in a campsite, when their attention was drawn to a peculiar strobing light, which appeared to be above the clouds. At first, the object was strobing at an irregular rate, but after a minute or two, it became a bright, solid, unblinking light, and suddenly appeared to accelerate dramatically, and shoot off to the northwest. At least one of the group of witnesses has a very responsible job as an emergency responder, with whom we spoke via telephone. He sounded to us to be quite serious, and sober-minded. Witness Report
- Corning, Arkansas, Sunday, April 10, 2016, @ 2230 hrs. (CDT): An adult male witness reports having observed two triangular craft, which appeared to him to maneuver in the night sky independently of one another. The craft radiated bright blue light, and at least the larger of the two craft had three lights in each of the corners of the triangle. Witness Report
- Ellsworth, Kansas, Wednesday, April 12, 2016, @ 2130 hrs. (CDT): A husband and wife witness from their vehicle five very bright red, luminescent “orbs” in the night sky, which appeared to be “pulsing,” or “strobing.” Husband’s Report Wife’s Report
- Wilson, Kansas, Wednesday, April 12, 2016, at 2140 hrs. (CDT): A father and son, while driving due south near Wilson, Kansas, witness three distinctly yellow lights, which appeared to maneuver, and which overtook the witnesses car, as they drove at highway speed. A few minutes later, the witnesses saw three more yellow lights, which then appeared to streak to the south. (NUFORC is awaiting a written report from the witnesses.)
- Lascar, Colorado, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, @ 11:00 hrs. (MDT): An adult male, while driving along Interstate 25, at approximately Mile Marker 62, witnesses two luminous spheres, one yellow, and one orange, apparently resting on the ground in the middle of a field, where cattle were feeding. Because the objects were one the ground, and not too distant from his location, he could estimate their size fairly accurately, he thought. His impression was that they were approximately the size of beach balls. Witness Report

We have updated our database of sighting reports, as of this date, with the posting of 116 new reports, received since the afternoon of Thursday, March 24th, 2016. In addition, the new posting includes reports that have been posted in the past, and which we have amended or corrected, for one reason or another, over the past week.
We have been unusually careful in our proof-reading of the new reports, but we always recommend that visitors to our website always be on the lookout for cases that are flawed, or which might be hoaxes. In some instances, it is very difficult to detect all of the latter type report, although we attempt to label those cases that we believe are questionable, as to their veracity.

- Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday, April 1st, 2016, @ 1:00 p.m. (MDT): An adult male, age 74, was outside viewing the daytime sky, and admiring the “contrails” overhead behind high-altitude airliners, when his attention was drawn to approximately 70-80 (est.) white objects, seen maneuvering in the sky. At first, the witness thought the objects might be geese or swans, or some other type of large white birds. However, as they flew in the vicinity of the “contrails,” the witness quickly realized that they were above the “contrails,” and that they were moving in a manner that seemed to be atypical of bird flight. - Tucson, Arizona, Monday, March 28, 2016 @ 12:30 p.m. (MDT): An adult male, who describes himself as a former military pilot with thousands of hours of flight time, was sitting in front of his computer in his dining room, when the room suddenly became very dark. His impression was that a very dark cloud was passing overhead, which was obscuring the sunlight. He stepped outside, and witnessed an unusual and bright ball of light, which, according to the witness, performed some type of complex interaction with a nearby soaring hawk! Witness Report

We have updated the database of sighting reports with the posting of 74 new entries, submitted to our Center since Friday afternoon, March 18, 2016.
We encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for flaws in the reports, and reports that may be out-and-out hoaxes. We believe that we have “filtered” the reports in such a fashion that has allowed us to detect, and delete, prank reports, but there is always the possibility that some errors, and flawed reports, may have escaped our attention.

- Meadow Creek, Kentucky, Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016, @ 2300 hrs. (local): Over the course of 15-20 minutes, husband and wife witness 9 red/orange objects pass overhead their home, which they succeeded in photographing. The wife insists they were not so-called “Chinese” lanterns, citing the fact that they live in a very rural area, and noting that they have fire restrictions currently in force for their community. Witness Report Note: NUFORC recognizes that the objects in the photos appear to be consistent with the appearance of “Chinese” lanterns. However, the witness reports that the objects were traveling in a direction almost opposite that of the prevailing winds. We do not know for certain what the objects are, and will pursue the case with the local news media, to see whether they might be aware of a launch of lanterns at the time, and on the date, indicated by the witnesses.
- Fairbanks, Alaska, Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016, @ 2100 hrs. (local): A husband, wife, and their daughter, witness three orange, stationary, triangular-shaped objects, seen hovering in the nighttime sky. The apparent size of the objects was equal approximately to that of the planet Venus or Jupiter. The witnesses have pledged to send more reports, which describe the sighting in greater detail, as well as photos taken with a high-quality digital camera. - South Branch, New Brunswick, Monday, March 21st, 2016, @ 0500 hrs. (local): A father reports that he was awaked by the baby monitor in his infant sons bedroom, and went to the room, accompanied by their five grown dogs, to see what the matter was. As the father tends to his son, he witnesses a tall, slender, black “entity” through a garage window. The dogs began acting very strangely, the father reports, and seemed to be profoundly timid and frightened, and one of them attempted to hide itself under a piano, where it lay, trembling. We have proof-read all of the reports we have posted, but there is always the likelihood that we may have missed detecting some errors, and suspect cases.

- Newport Beach, California, Friday, March 18, 2016, @ 00:00 hrs. (PDT): A young woman, her mother, and the other members of their family, become aware of a very loud roaring sound, which seems to them to be emanating from the nighttime sky. The roaring was so loud that it apparently set of many car alarms, and the witnesses felt it may have been related to the two extremely bright lights they witnessed in the sky during the event. - Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Wednesday, March 16, 2016, @ 06:00 a.m. (EDT): A group of police officers, following their morning roll call, become aware of an extremely loud, low-pitched rumbling sound, which passed directly overhead their location. The sound was loud enough to drown out their voices, as they attempted to keep talking, and the sound lasted for, they estimated, ten seconds, even though they witnessed nothing in the sky. Adelaide, South Australia, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, @ 9:45 p.m. (local): An adult male, sitting in an outdoor spa in his backyard, when he witnesses three triangular craft, flying in an unwavering triangular formation, streak across the visible sky in an estimated 5-8 seconds. The witness works in the defense establishment in Australia, and is familiar with all types of aircraft. He writes that the objects were not terrestrial military aircraft. Witness Report

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2016
We have updated our website as of this date, with the posting of 131 new, or recently amended, sighting reports.
We have screened and proof-read the reports to the greatest extent that we are able to do, but there is always the likelihood that we have missed deleting, or properly labelling, reports that are flawed, or which are overt hoaxes. Given the large number of prank telephone calls our Center has received recently over our UFO Hotline, we suspect that we may have received an unusually large percentage of reports that are intended to “spoof” us. Consequently, visitors to our site are encouraged to be especially vigilant, this week. In particular, one should be cautious in accepting, at face value, those reports that have been submitted by sources who choose to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information. We traditionally attempt to label of those report submitted from anonymous sources.
RADIO APPEARANCES
Peter Davenport, Director of NUFORC, is scheduled to appear on the Jeff Rense Radio Program ((PLEASE LINK)) at from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Pacific) on Friday night, March 11, 2016. Peter and Jeff will host two groups of guests, to include a family who experienced a very dramatic sighting of orange “fireballs” above their home in West Topsham, Vermont, on the evening of Thursday, March 03, 2016. An interesting aspect of the case is that all five members of the family heard a very loud “growling,” or “scraping,” sound, that appeared to emanate from the objects, as they passed overhead. The second set of guests who will appear are a husband and wife, who report having experienced a very dramatic sighting, in August 1978, of a disc, which hovered very close to them above their home in Santa Clarita, California. The NUFORC website has been updated, with our posting of approximately 110 new, or newly edited, UFO sighting reports.
Given that the prank calls that we addressed in our update last week are continuing, and given that the prank communications may spill over to written reports, we encourage visitors to our website to be particularly cautious, while reading this week’s reports. We always aspire to remove the obvious pranked reports, but there is always the possibility, and even likelihood, that some reports in the database are not accurate accounts of actual sightings.

Santa Clarita Valley, California, August 13, 1978, @ 1930 hrs. (EDT): A husband and wife, while cleaning their swimming pool, witness a large disc, which hovered above their neighborhood for an estimated 45 seconds. - West Topsham, Vermont, Thursday, March 03rd, 2016, @ 2030 hrs. (EST): The husband/father of a family steps out onto the deck of their home, and he suddenly summons his family members outside to look at something unusual. Five of the family members spend the next ten minutes observing two clusters of strange orange lights move rapidly overhead. The display of lights overhead, they report, was accompanied by a peculiar noise that sounded like a snow plow scraping a roadway. The objects were seen by another witness to the north of the familys residence. Witness Report
- Harbor Beach, Michigan, Monday, February 29, 2016, @ 2345 hrs. (EST): A adult male, who describes himself as an experienced amateur astronomer, and a member of the Mutual UFO Network, witnesses a peculiar yellow light, which is out of place, he knew, in the nighttime sky. The object suddenly streaks across the sky, stops, and then streaks vertically into the night sky, all in a matter of seconds. Witness Report
- Edwards, California, on Monday, February 29, 2016, @ 1820 hrs. (PST): Two adult males, traveling home from work, witness a red object, being trailed by a long string of yellow lights. The object was approximately 30 degrees above the horizontal plane, and ahead of their vehicle, as they drove to the north. One of the witnesses is a former senior non-commissioned officer in the U. - Vancouver, British Columbia, Friday, February 26th, 2016, @ 0050 hrs. (PST): A husband and wife witness from the balcony of their apartment a strange, gray-colored object to the west of their location. NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2016
We have updated the NUFORC website, with the addition to our database of approximately 105 new sightings, collected since the afternoon of Friday, February 19th, 2016. We encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed and prank reports, principally for reasons we address below.
RECENT SPATE OF PRANK CALLS TO OUR UFO HOTLINE
Over the last two days, our Hotline has received well over 100 prank calls, placed principally, it seems to us, by young school age children. Many of them simply call, and for some strange reason, say nothing, choosing to simply “hang” on the line silently. Others spew offensive, sometime XXXX-rated, profanity, and then hang up. Some of these “children” sound to us to be in their 20’s, 30’s, or even 40’s, a fact that we find particularly troubling.
We mention this fact, principally because we would like the calls to stop. Prank calls represent a major frustration for us, and they deduct a great deal of our time from other important tasks.
We mention it also because we observe that there are many parents in our nation who seem not to be aware of what their children are doing with their respective cell telephones and computers, and/or dont seem to care. The problem is of such gravity that we believe that all parents should require their children to log every call made on their telephones, or demand to have access to an itemized monthly statement for each of their childrens telephones.
The problem seems to derived from a statement that was placed somewhere on the internet, which children have encountered, and which they follow in a lemming-like manner. We are pursuing that lead, and may request net authorities pursue the issue.
In the final analysis, the nuisance of prank calls may cause us, in the near future, to alter the Hotline, such that it will no longer be answered by a live operator, but will allow callers to simply leave a message, and we will then return calls to callers who sound to us to be serious-sounding individuals.

- Auburn, Washington, Tuesday, February 23, 2016, @ 1850 hrs. (PST): Two independent witnesses observe a cluster of distinctly yellow lights move rapidly from east to west across the local community. We feel duty-bound to add here that one message was found on social media, asserting that sky lanterns had been released nearby at a memorial service, on the evening in question. - Daimus, Spain, Friday, February 26, 2016, @ 01:15 hrs. (local): Two adult witnesses report seeing two very large, triangular craft in the early morning sky. The witnesses assert that as the craft moved across the sky, they abruptly came to a complete stop for perhaps 20-30 seconds, and then suddenly appeared to shoot vertically into the dark sky. The witnesses assert that their impression was that each object was as large as an oil tanker ship. Witness Report

NUFORC HOMEPAGE AND DATABASE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2016
Our website has been updated, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 114 new sighting reports, received since the afternoon of February 11th, 2016.
We have proof-read the new cases as carefully as we are able to do, amidst a busy schedule, but there still remains the possibility that some of those reports are flawed in one way or another. Hence, we strongly recommend that as you read through the new reports, be on the alert for reports that appear to be defective, or which do not seem to “ring true,” for one reason or another. In particular, we encourage the readers to exercise caution in accepting, at face value, those reports that have been submitted by individuals who elect to remain anonymous, and who provide no contact information. The absence of such data from a report can be, we observe, a cardinal sign that a report may be a hoax.
WE CONGRATULATE THE COAST TO COAST AM RADIO AUDIENCE
During his weekly radio update on the Coast to Coast AM radio program on Thursday night, February 11th, Peter Davenport cited a number interesting sightings from southern California of a blue-green object, seen streaking from west to east. We considered the possibility that the object was a meteor, but we could not be certain of that possibility, and Peter requested of the C2CAM listeners in the Los Angeles and San Diego areas submit reports, if they had seen the object. In response to that appeal, many people submitted high-quality written reports, and one gentleman located, and sent to our Center, video footage that we believe resolves the case. Based on the video footage, we conclude that the object almost certainly was a meteor. We extend our gratitude to those COAST TO COAST listeners who submitted reports, and, in particular, to the gentleman who guided us to a 10-second long video clip, captured by a Doheny State Beach surf-cam, located near Dana Point, California. The video leaves little doubt in our mind, but what the object was a typical bright meteor. (Video to be posted soon.)

- Hong Kong (China), Wednesday, February 17, 2016, @ 1944 hrs. (local): While in flight at an altitude of 33,000 feet, an airline Pilot and his First Officer witness from their cockpit a strange blue light, that at first appeared to be stationary, and at a very high altitude. After an estimated 2-3 minutes, the object began to move to the south, and its luminosity suddenly increased dramatically. The pilot of a nearby airliner also reported the object over the radio. BREAKING NEWS
The International UFO Congress will wind up its week of UFO lectures in Phoenix, Arizona, this weekend. Almost as if to celebrate the presence of the Congress there in Phoenix, a cluster of approximately ten, bright gold objects appeared over Interstate 10 at approximately 1845 hrs. (MST) on Friday night, February 19, 2016, just as we were updating our website. We will post the written report from the witness, who reported to our Center over the Hotline that other people were looking at the objects, and at least one other witness managed to capture video footage of the objects. The witness who called reported that they all disappeared suddenly, all at the same instant, which we believe tends to rule out the possibility of their being sky lanterns.

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON THURSDAY EVENING, FEBRUARY 11, 2016
Our website has been updated, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 140 new written sighting reports, submitted via our Online Report Form since Friday of last week, February 5th.
In our haste to get some fascinating reports posted quickly, and in preparation for two radio programs, we probably have not proofread the reports as carefully as we always aspire to do. Consequently, be on the alert for what appear to be prank reports, or flawed times and dates. If you discover what you believe may be a flawed report, please send an e-mail to director@ufocenter.com, and we will address the issue quickly.

- Colorado Springs, Colorado, Thursday, February 04, 2016, @ 2300 hrs. (Mountain): A husband is suddenly awakened from a sound sleep by what he perceived to be a “presence” in his bedroom. Immediately after awakening, he notes that the room is filled with a red “fog,” which appears to him to be suddenly sucked out of the room, as if by a vacuum cleaner. He attempts to wake his wife and dog, but is unable to do so. Hearing a buzzing sound, he walks to the front door and opens it, only to see a blue- and chrome-colored, disc-shaped object hovering over his front yard. The object just suddenly disappears from his sight. Witness Report
- Claysburg, Pennsylvania, Saturday, February 6th, 2016, @ 1900 hrs. (Eastern)–While sitting on a ski lift, a father and his 14-year old son, who describe themselves as extremely experienced night sky watchers, witness two very bright, “star-like” objects move across the night sky, almost directly overhead. At first, the witnesses assumed that the objects were satellites, although they were moving across the sky at a very high (angular) velocity, about three times that of a satellite in a typical low-Earth orbit, and they were converging rapidly. The witnesses were even more surprised to see the objects suddenly stop, circle one another, and then go shooting back in the same direction from which they had just come. Witness Report
- Western United States, Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, @ 0510 hrs. (Pacific): Approximately 90 minutes after a Delta IV rocket was launched from Vandenberg AFB, witnesses from California, Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada, report a number of very strange sighting events. NUFORC initially assumed that the witnesses had recorded the incorrect time, and that they had witnessed the launch from Vandenberg. However, subsequent investigation has satisfied us that the witnesses observed something very unusual, as further supported by the illustration provided by a witness in Lebanon, Oregon. - Southern California, Thursday, February 11th, 2016, @ 0640 hrs. (Pacific): Multiple witnesses in the Los Angeles and San Diego area witnessed a peculiar “blue-green” objects streak across the morning sky, lasting for an estimated 5-15 seconds. The object may have been a long-duration meteor, but some of the reports provide information that make us wonder about that explanation. Please see reports for the morning of February 11, 2016.

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATE ON FEBRUARY 4TH, 2016
The NUFORC database of sighting reports has been updated, with the posting of 106 new sightings, submitted since January 29th.
With every updating, we encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for flawed sighting reports, most of all with regard to the times and dates indicated by the witnesses. We always attempt to purge the reports of errors, and to label obviously hoaxed reports for what they are, but we know from experience that some errors can slip through our screening and proof-reading process. If you encounter what you believe may be an error or a hoaxed report, please send a note to director@ufocenter.com and we will deal with the issue as quickly as possible.

- Bolton (Lake George), New York, Sunday, January 24, 2016, @ 1649 hrs. (EST): A commercial pilot, on a VFR flight that took him over Lake George, witnesses what at first he thought was a landing light on an approaching aircraft. However, as his aircraft got closer to the object, the unidentified object appeared to the witness to change its color to red, or perhaps yellow, and it began to appear rectangular in shape. Approximately 6 or 7 minutes after the witness first observed the object, it just suddenly vanished from his sight. Witness Report
- West Suffield, Connecticut, Sunday, January 31st, 2016, @ 2045 hrs. (EST): A mother, while letting her dog out, suddenly becomes aware of five bright, very prominent orange lights, which move slowly across the night sky behind some nearby trees. - Fife, Washington, Wednesday, February 03rd, 2016, @ 1900 hrs. (PST): A family, driving south on Interstate 5 in Fife, located just north of Tacoma, has its attention suddenly drawn to a very bright green light, that illuminated the sky to their left. The illumination lasted for approximately 3 seconds, and then occurred on two more occasions. The father, who was driving, is an aviation mechanic in the aerospace industry, and states that he has never seen anything like it. Witness Report

NUFORC WEBSITE UPDATED ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, 2016
We have updated the website, as of this date, with the posting of approximately 110 new, or recently amended, reports.
We have proof-read the reports as carefully as possible, but as we always do, we encourage visitors to the NUFORC website to be on the alert for flawed or hoax reports, dates and time that dont appear to match the text of the report, and other possible mistakes. If you detect an error, please send the details of the report to director@ufocenter.com, and we will examine the report more carefully that we did upon our first inspection.
Some of the recent reports and issues that we would like to call to the special attention of visitors to our site appear below:
Orbs that appear to change colors: Over the last several years, we have focused attention on the strange appearance of clusters of red and orange “fireballs.” Interestingly, NUFORC has received a few reports recently about these peculiar orbs which appear to have changed colors. One such report was just submitted regarding a sighting of just such an object in Amsterdam, New York, on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 2300 hrs. (Eastern). Witness Report The witnesses managed to capture rather good video footage, which appears to show clearly the sudden color change of the object from green to red. We will post this shortly.
Orbs that appear possibly to be ascribable to lanterns: Some sightings of “orbs” appear to involve the launching of so-called “Chinese” lanterns, or “Sky lanterns,” which are powered by candles, or by other pyrotechnic devices. Based on the photos that have accompanied a report from Huntington, Texas, Witness Report, for a sighting there on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016, @ 2015 hrs. (Central), we wonder whether this report might be an example of such lanterns. The objects in the photo seem to us to indicate a pyrotechnic device, illuminating a lighter colored envelope. We cannot be certain what the objects are, but the quality of the photo is such, so as to make us wonder whether this might be a relatively rare example of lanterns.
Sonic shock waves over the East Coast: On Thursday, January 28th, NUFORC received a number of reports from the east coast of peculiar sounding sonic “booms,” which seemed to some witnesses to shake the earth. The events were reported by the press from a number of states along the eastern seaboard, and U. S. military sources quickly reported that the events had been caused by military aircraft, specifically U. S. Navy F-18s and the newly introduced F-35’s, which apparently is undergoing field testing. However, based on at least one of the reports submitted to our Center. Witness Report ((Note: Date is flawed in database, and should read January 28.)), we have come to question whether the description provided by the military provides the full story, and another gentleman, Mr. Kurt Story, has come to the same conclusion. We provide below his analysis of the event:
((BEGIN TEXT OF ANALYSIS OF SONIC “BOOMS” OVER THE EAST COAST, THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2016, BY MR. KURT STORY.))
Description: This is an analysis of the details of a “sonic boom” event reported along the New Jersey coast and surrounding areas. The shaking was reported to have occurred around 1:23:45 PM local time on January 28, 2016. After initial reports of ground movement came in, the USGS determined this was not an earthquake, but originating in the atmosphere. They estimated that as many as 9 sonic booms were reported, which the U. S. Navy has since attributed to a supersonic flyover by two jets in Naval airspace, located approximately 14 miles offshore.
However, when one digs deeper, this explanation doesn’t adequately explain the facts. To clarify the details, I have included a diagram. The diagram is based on the USGS “Did you feel it?” map of the event, which recorded eyewitness shaking reports made to the USGS. I should point out that people generally contact USGS to report an earthquake, not a loud sound. In my personal experience with several low-altitude supersonic flyovers, I have heard a sharp sound/air blast, but felt no ground movement. However, in this case, ground shaking was reported as far away as 70 miles from the Navy airspace, as shown on the map.
The effects and range of sonic booms has been carefully studied. Ground width of the boom exposure area is approximately 1 statute mile (1.6 km) for each 1,000 feet (300 m) of altitude (the width is about five times the altitude); that is, an aircraft flying supersonic at 30,000 feet (9,100 m) will create a lateral boom spread of about 30 miles (48 km). In this case, we have reports from as far away as 70 miles. So if the sonic booms were generated offshore in Naval airspace, that means the boom width is twice that, or ~140 miles. Plugging that value into the equation gives us an altitude of 140,000 feet. This is more than twice the stated operational altitude of the F-35C, and 3.5X the operational altitude of the F-18.
Therefore, I find it rather difficult to accept the official Navy explanation, as it simply does not explain all the observational data. Even at first glance, it’s hard to imagine how two small aircraft could displace enough air to cause ground shaking 70 miles away! All the observational data should be considered to find a better explanation, wherever the facts may lead us.

We post this analysis, not because we believe the event was in any way related to the presence of a UFO, but rather, because the military statement about the incident does not appear to explain it adequately well. The apparent discrepancy seems to suggest that other factors may have been involved, which are not dealt with by the militarys explanation.

We updated our database of sighting reports on Wednesday, January 20, and we do so again, as of this date. We have posted approximately 130 sighting reports, received since January 14th, 2016.
We believe we’ve done a fairly credible job of proof-reading this batch of new reports, but there is always the possibility that we may have overlooked flawed and hoaxed reports. As a result, we always encourage visitors to our website to be on the alert for reports that may be defective, or which may be attempts to mislead the reader.
We highlight below a few of the reports, which we believe deserve special attention of visitors to our website:
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Saturday, June 07th, 1980, @ 1300 hrs. (Central): A group of high school students, university undergraduates, and at least on Ph.D., sight a strange, metallic-looking object, seen hovering above a nearby empty field. They are so “taken” by its appearance that they exit the restaurant where they are having lunch, in order to get a better look at the object, and satisfy their curiosity as to its nature. - Tacoma, Washington, Friday, January 22nd, 2016, @ 2355 hrs. (Pacific): An adult male, who describes himself as a pilot, among other talents, witnesses a fireball fly by his residence near Interstate 5 in Tacoma, Washington. He estimated it was at an altitude of 500 feet, and traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour. Witness Report
- Hoquiam, Washington, Friday, January 22nd, 2016, @ 1900 hrs. (Pacific): Four witnesses observe a total of seven orange objects pass overhead. The objects appeared to maneuver, and several of them suddenly accelerated and shot up into the night sky. Witness Report
- Asheville, North Carolina, Thursday, January 21st, 2016, @ 1130 hrs. (Eastern): A postal employee witnesses a circular object pass overhead, and suddenly disappear from his sight. A second person witnesses the same object from a different location. Witness Report

NUFORC IS BACK TO A NORMAL OPERATING SCHEDULE
At our last posting, on December 22nd, we requested that visitors to our site make every effort to refrain from placing all but the most urgent calls to our UFO Hotline over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. It appears that most people heeded our request, for which we are grateful! The volume of telephone calls diminished to the point at which we were able to handle them conveniently during our travels, and the volume of written reports seems to have continued unabated. Thank you, one and all, for your co-operation on the matter!! That co-operation made our Holiday much more enjoyable, while we were still able to provide citizens a means for submitting descriptions of their respective sightings during late December 2015.

We are grateful to all those individuals in California, Nevada, and Utah for the reports they submitted about the dramatic “fireball,” which was seen streaking over California at approximately 6:05 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time), on Tuesday night, December 22nd, 2015. There were numerous reports and videos of sightings from California, Nevada, and Arizona, of the re-entry of 2015-080B/41178, on 2015 Dec 23, near 02:10 UTC (Dec 22 18:10 PST). It was the rocket body of the recent launch of Progress MS-01. It was the model 11S510, which has an empty mass of 2410 kg.

If you received reports from Thailand and neighboring countries, of a meteor-like object seen on Jan 2, just before dawn (6:36 AM), that was the re-entry of 2015-074C / 41107, which was the second stage of the Zenit-2SB rocket, that launched Russia’s Elecktro-L 2 satellite. Its empty mass was 8900 kg.

REPORTS OF “FIREBALLS” CONTINUE INTO THE 2016
For more than a decade, our Center has attempted to call to the attention of the public the frequent reports of clusters of red, orange, and yellow fireballs – a phenomenon which appears to us to have suddenly increased in magnitude, beginning in approximately late May 2012. If anything, the frequency of such reports has increased over the last 3-4 years, and the approximately 289 new reports we post, as of this date, appear to be evidence of that fact.
We have not counted the reports in this posting that allude to these colorful “orbs” or “fireballs,” but we estimate that type of report constitutes easily half of the reports for the last two months, and we believe ranges to as high as 70-80 percent of them. What makes the reports of keen interest to NUFORC, and to other UFO organizations, as well, is that no one understands what the fireballs are, or where they come from. The only possible prosaic explanation we can imagine is that the objects are so-called “Chinese” lanterns, but in many cases, the objects are reported to be “drifting” in a direction that is counter to that of the prevailing local wind at altitude. - Abbotsford, Canada, Thursday, December 31, 2015, @ 8:30 p.m. (Pacific): A Canadian air traffic controller witnesses 10-15 distinctly yellow fireballs move slowly across the southern nighttime sky. He estimated that they were in the vicinity of Bellingham, Washington State, but he could not be certain of their distance from his vantage point. In a telephone conversation with NUFORC on January 05th, 2016, the witness averred that the objects might have been “sky” lanterns, released at a celebration, but that he had no objective data as to their nature.
- Bear, Delaware, Sunday, December 20, 2015, @ 9:45 p.m. (Eastern): An adult male witnesses, and captures on video tape, approximately 20 red “fireballs” move across the nighttime sky. One of the fireballs is alleged by the witness to have moved across the sky at a velocity significantly higher than that of the other objects. Witness Report Witness Photo
