Two zooming red lights that sometimes merged into one, stopped, hovered, flew around, made a quick descent and was gone.

I was sitting on my apartment patio in Riverdale section of the Bronx when two joined red lights appeared. They sometimes flashed. At times they seemed to merge into one red light. The light/craft sometimes hovered, sometimes flew without sound in and out of my sight.

I called my wife out to see. We sat and watched it soundlessly zoom, without sound, then stop. Sometimes a green light flashed as well. The light/craft (I couldn't make out a shape) seemed to be having fun in the skies. Very fast. Finally, it quickly descended in a fast, straight drop, our view blocked by nearby trees.

We thought it might be drone, but we don't know if drones are capable of such far-ranging manouvers or coming to an abrupt stop and hovering.
