Two orange lights spotted one after the other over Muskegon Michigan

This is a posting to NUFORC regarding 2 orange lights spotted in the evening sky over Muskegon, Michigan.

It was approximately 9:45 PM in the evening. My brother-in-law and niece were with me. We had just finished extinguishing a campfire down his hill on Bear Lake and just brought our supplies into the house. We needed to pick up a few things outside so all three of us proceeded out to the front of the house.

This is when I noticed a orange light in the night sky. (It was a dark orange color but bight in appearance) From our position it was west/southwest of us somewhere just north of the Muskegon channel that connects Muskegon Lake to Lake Michigan. It was moving in an easterly direction at a slow but steady pace. There were no blinking lights on it. I watched it closely and only noticed a slight variation in the overall luminosity of the object. I wouldn’t call it a steady pulse, but there was a constant change (ever so slightly) in it’s brightness.

I called out to my brother-in -law and niece who were only 10 feet away. I asked them what that light was. They both watched it with me for a good 30 seconds. We all agreed that there were no blinking lights (as you would see on an airplane), there was no sound from the object and it was like nothing any of us had ever seen.

After the initial 30 seconds the orange object changed directions heading in a south/southeasterly direction and even appeared to rise up slightly. After about 10 seconds it disappeared. There were a few clouds in the night sky and it was hard to tell if this first light vanished or went behind a cloud. It was too dark to see the clouds.

The three of us continued to look for the object for a few seconds and then immediately began talking about what we had just seen. After about 30 - 60 seconds... to our surprise a second bright orange light appeared very close to where the first orange light had originally appeared in the night sky. My niece ran inside and told other family members to come outside and see the object. My wife, sister-in-law and 2 other children came out. They all watched the object with us.

This second orange object/light followed a similar path but did extend its easterly path a bit further than the first light. It held this course for about 50 - 60 seconds also.

It then turned to a south/southeast coarse for roughly 10-15 seconds and then disappeared. None of the family members had ever seen any lights like these in the area or their lives.

My wife is a true skeptic of UFO’s and aliens and was willing to acknowledge to me that it was some sort of a unidentified flying object. That admission is about as good as I’m going to get out of her.

Points discussed after the sighting: Did we see 2 objects or 1 object that circled around and reappeared in the same location. The group decided that (if the first object maintained the same speed) that it was to far for it to return to the original location and reappear in the amount of time that had transpired.

The Muskegon County Airport runways, located to the south of the sighting, do not line up with the objects coarse/direction. The objects never appeared to be coming down to land or taking off from the ground. Although it is hard to determine the 2 objects exact elevation, I would estimate them to have been between 5,000 feet - 10,000 feet in the air. All of us see planes in the air (at lower elevations) around Muskegon every day and night. We also see planes way up in the sky traveling at 25,000 feet to 30,000 feet traveling across the country. All of us agreed... these 2 objects weren’t planes. They were like nothing we had ever seen.
