pin head object disolves into vapor trail

bright easter sunday clear day directly over head in the eastern sky looking from my porch balcony I saw a tiny quicksilver dot like the head of a pin in distance appear to dissolve into a vapor trail. anybody else see this thing was it a sat-alight, or a meteor?
