Object with light and flame?

Watched what appeared to be a satellite or high altitude plane travel along a normal trajectory. As the object approached closer over head it clearly had what appeared to be blow torch flame emitted from where wings would normally be. Hard to tell if was on both port and starboard sides of the object. It also appeared to have an exhaust plume as well.
After it went over head, it abruptly disappeared, completely out of sight. No sound was heard.
