Duration: 10 minutes

Location: Rockyview County (Canada), AB, Canada

Shape: Sphere
Characteristics: Lights on object, Aura or haze around object, Emitted other objects, Changed Colo

One evening after a hike in the Canadian Rockies I was driving back to Calgary. I was a clear evening with a high ceiling of cloud. The cloud ceiling was probably around 500-1000 m high. I was driving along the Trans Canada Highway No. 1 and passed over Scott Hill. When the sighting started there was a bit of twilight left in the sky but by the time the sighting was over it was completely dark. I was driving around the speed limit which is around 110 km/hr. As I was descending Scott Hill, (Coordinates: 51°08'17.1"N 114°42'44.1"W) I noticed some unusual lights in the north east. From my vantage point the lights looked to be hovering over the Shell Jumping Pound Gas Plant (Coordinates 51°08'08.4"N 114°34'59.0"W). However, as I drove further east my vantage point changed and I realized the objects were located further east. When I first saw the object it was more than 15 km away. When I last saw the object it was less than 5 km w! hen the object departed.

What I saw was a sphere with a band of light that changed color around its widest circumference. It was changing colour from blue, to orange, to green to yellow and back again. The order of color does not matter I just remember that it did change color. What really caught my attention was colored balls dropping from the sphere. A blue ball would drop, then a yellow ball, then a green one and a orange one and so one. The balls would drop at precise regular intervals. The balls would drop for a few hundred meters and then disappear. You could see around 3 to 4 balls dropping at any one time. The balls would drop perfectly straight down with no deviation in path due to wind.

What I also noticed was that the sphere was situated below overhead cloud cover. Light from the sphere and dropping balls would be reflected off the overhead cloud cover. This illuminated could cover made the spectacle easier to see and notice not to mention impressive.

I continued to observe the sphere dropping those colored balls for around 10 minutes as I was driving east of the Highway No. 1. It might have stopped and started dropping the balls again. As I approached the interchange of Highway 1 and 22X the sphere was more to my left. More north east whereas when I first saw it was north east-east. The object was much closer and larger, and I could see that it was a sphere. At this point the sphere stopped dropping those colored balls and headed straight up through the cloud cover. It took only a second or two for the sphere to penetrate the could cover and it was gone. What I noticed about the sphere’s upward movement was that it again straight with no deviation. Movement was fast but I could not gauge how fast as the sphere disappeared above the clouds. The approximate location of the last sighting was here: Coordinates: 51°05'12.5"N 114°29'03.1"W Date: The sighting happened sometime between 2001-2003. I cannot remember the exact year. I happened sometime during the late summer or fall. Given the time that passed I entered the data as 2002 above.

Time: The time of the sighting was sometime between 19:00 and 21:00. I entered 20:00 above.
