Strange object in the sky summons military jets

Approximately 7:45 pm me and my wife were sitting on the porch looked up to the sky and seen a dark grayish black round or oval shaped object right above us at a sports stadium height like you would see a blimp at.it was silent and slowly rose up and out of the atmosphere through the clouds and disappeared 2 military jets flew over the area maybe around a hour later and again later that night
