|Three red flashing lights streak across sky followed by eerie thunder and rumbling sounds.
It is now midnight as i write this and i am in Monmouth, Oregon.
At about 10 PM, two hours ago, I saw three red flashing lights streak across the night sky. They were silent, as I was sure they were close enough, roughly an eighth of a mile away, and if they were a plane or a helicopter, I would have heard something. There is a small airport in Independence (sister town to monmouth) where Cessna type planes fly from and around Independence and Monmouth all the time, especially in the summer, so I am well aware of at what distance I should hear something. Over all, these lights just had a strange feel to them. They also seemed to be moving at a relative speed as to what a Cessna would fly at. Their lights flashed in a way that had a sort of Christmas light, simultaneous pattern to it. If guessing, i would say they were about 50 feet apart and were all flying at the same speed. I don't assume to know if they were anything out of this world, but what proceeded next makes me wonder if they had something to do with it and to be honest, briefly, I felt as if a war was starting to happen or something.
While the lights were almost out of my line of sight, after heading west, toward the east a sort of Thunderous sound started rumbling in the sky from the direction the three red lights just came from. After approximately 5 minutes of the rumbling, with an occasional boom, I noticed a helicopter flying back from where the three lights had just flown. As the helicopter approached from a distance I couldnt yet hear it, but as it got closer and at about the same distance I saw the three lights, I started to hear the "choppers." All the while it switches from a regular white light to a constant red light and proceeds toward the east, towards the rumbling sounds. At this time, the rumbling started getting a little more constant, with the bigger booms happening every 5 seconds or so. This is all occurring while I am speaking with a friend on the phone relaying the experience, and on the other line he is hearing my phone cut out with static that seemed to correlate to the ! thunderous sounds but with a delay. I could almost dismiss it as thunder, but it was and has been absolutely clear of any clouds today and also there was no mention of any thunderstorm on any news outlets so I personally am ruling that out. The sounds persisted for a good 15-25 minutes and had a little "grand finale" and then all the sudden stopped. That then left me with wondering if there was any firework show nearby but as I look online I can't find anything and am at this point just dumfounded.
Wonder if anyone else experienced this and comes across and reads this. Hopefully you post about it as well so I can read your perspective. Cheers!
