|Glowing Cigar Shape, cast no shadows.
While working on a UTI Phillips Rig, on top of the Dudley Bluffs area, North of Piceance Creek, Hwy. 5 in Colorado. I was with a co-worker in our truck. He was in the driver's seat and I was in the passenger seat. It was late and windy.
The rig had a wind skirt on to protect the rig floor guys from the wind. Our truck was backed up to the catwalk looking south. I was turned around in my seat on the passenger side, digging in the cooler, when my coworker says, "What the hell is that?" I recall caring more about the tone of his voice more than the words.
When I turned around, there was a long cigar/cylindrical/worm-like light that was seemed almost translucent. It was very bright.
As is SOP on right locations you are suppose to wear PPE at all times. I recall my co-worker shaking and just staring out of the front window. I wasn't sure what I was seeing. I wear glasses and had safety glasses on and there was the front window of the truck. I opened the door got out of the truck, and now there was only glasses and safety glasses and the object was still there moving slowly towards us and to my left.. I removed the safety glasses and the object was still there.. and I even removed my glasses and it was still there.. I recall being totally amazed not by the object itself, but because of its behavior. It was silent. It didn't fly nor glide but almost swam through the air.
As it got closer, it passed over a stand of trees to the left of the vehicle, and at that point, it passed us and continued off.
The creepiest part of the whole ordeal was the light. It did not cast shadows through the trees, it didn't illuminate the ground. My coworker looked at me and said not to say ((deleted--anything) about this ever; if his wife ever found out, he would have to quit his job.
I've seen several things over the years, e.g. lights in the sky in Alaska and in Washington.. But nothing like this. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it.
