|Orange Light Circles in Sky over Central Vermont.
I was up at my parents’ home in rural Duxbury, Vermont, on Friday 7/12/13. The neighbors (over the hill and unseen) had been sporadically shooting off backyard-style fireworks for about 30 minutes.
Around 10:00 pm I went outside to get something from my vehicle. I immediately noticed two bright orange circular lights traveling above the tree line, moving slowly and steadily in a W to NE direction.
Vermont has been under a near month long deluge and was one of the first dry nights we’ve had in weeks. The stars were out and it was a clear night.
I went inside the house and called 2 of my family members outside to observe the lights as well. We watched together as the lights traveled across the sky. There was no sound relating to the objects or their movement.
The two lights were following the same path and were in single file, about 12” apart in sky.
After 3 minutes the first light completely disappeared.
About a minute later the second orb did the same thing.
After another minute or two what we thought was the first light reemerged distantly “down” the sky and to the NE, where it stayed and “twinkled” from light orange to white to orange. (It was still there an hour later when I left for the night so I don’t think it was the same object). We didn’t see the second light again.
One family member stayed outside for another 10 minutes. She alerted us that there was another light, traveling in the same trajectory but MUCH lower. This circular light was a deep orange and disappeared into the tree line at Due West.
We watched for a few minutes to see where it would reemerge but did not see the light again.
I did get one photo of the first light before it disappeared. It is attached here for your perusal, although the quality is poor.
