I was smoking a cigarette in my car and when I finished I began to go inside. On my way to the door I noticed a very bright red light that looked like a burning ball of fire. I had thought it was a meteor and went inside to get my wife.

When my wife came outside which was only about 30 seconds the ball of fire began to diminish in size and began an ascension and then vanished.

The ball traveled very slowly and left a smokey trail behind it which was visible due to the very bright nature of the object.

Its direction was fairly unidirectional with a slight course change near the end. I had observed what appeared to be a commercial flight alter course to avoid the object.

The total amount of time this took to transpire was about 3 to 5 minutes.
