two circular objects red/orange above SLC moving north bound 9:25pm thursday 12-26-13

Looking out over the back deck at down town SLC two colored lights fairly close to each other in tandem were observed moving toward our location getting bigger in size . The color was orange-red glow, circular or spherical but out of focus -fuzzy . Size seemed larger than aircraft on approach to SL International . It was the impression that they were moving towards our location getting bigger. If behind the aircraft that was on approach they would be very large , if between the aircraft and our location maybe they would be size of an aircraft -jet liner . Looking at it with binoculars which are pre-set to look at distant aircraft or the mountain range on the other side of the valley they seemed out of focus . The image was quite a bit larger than expected . Not out of focus blur but many red separate individual red concentric protrusions in the circle . It was observed momentarily with the binoculars then handed off to the second observer while the camera wa! s fetched (30 seconds) . The objects didn’t seemed to be moving towards us after a few moments but moving away maybe about a 90 degrees turn running parallel to the aircraft on approach to SLC and getting smaller but rising up still holding the original shape and color and still in tandem. The objects were fading fast and loosing color while rising up going in the same direction as the jet liner on approach . About 5 disappointing pictures were captured showing color of the two objects and maybe direction but out of focus and blurry. The action happened very fast and no time to think about camera settings. We’re pleased with the experience and believe it to be stimulating .
