|Three white lights hovered over the beach.
(Note, I am estimating the date. It may have been the first weekend in March.) Very clear, quiet winter night at the beach. Cold. The ocean was very calm. I'd gone out to a dunes crosswalk to look at the ocean before going to bed.
I looked south down the beach and noticed three large glowing white lights. One of them was about 45 degrees up from the horizon just east over the surf. Another was the same height, but more directly south over the beach, and the third one was the same height and much further west as if over the marsh. If I stretched my arm out in front of my face, they were about the size of my fingertip.
They caught my attention because they were still. They didn't move in the sky at all. They did fluoresce somewhat which may have been an atmospheric effect. It seemed like they were 'shining'.
At first I thought they were flares, but they were so high up and, as I watched, they did not fade. This area is a flight path for commercial airlines going up and down the east coast. The jets usually fly quite high in the sky. I did see a few jet lights passing far up overhead. These unusual lights stood out because they were closer, far larger, silent, and did not move. I went out the next day and looked around to see if there were any large light poles that might have accounted for this. There were none. I've been going to this beach for 50 years and have never seen anything like this.
