Reported: 2012-12-24 22:19 Pacific
Duration: 5 minutes
No of observers: 4

Location: Sparks, NV, USA

Shape: Light
Characteristics: Lights on object

Three separate bright orange lights in the western sky traveling at very high rates of speed.

At approximately 2115 on Christmas eve, I went across the street to check the mail. As I crossed the street, I looked up to the western sky and noticed a bright orange-ish to red colored object. At first I thought it might be a planet, but realized that it was in the wrong position to be Mars. As I crossed back to my house, I observed another object rise up from below the visible horizon in the western sky and rise quickly to just below the first object. At that time I called out my wife and my mom and dad to observe the objects. The first object faded out and a third object rose up and joined the second one.

My father and I are both retired Naval Aviators, and I continue to fly as a law enforcement officer and pilot for the local Sheriff's Office. I've been flying for 27 years, my father for 28, and neither of us have ever seen these types of lights associated with aircraft before. They seemed to be traveling at extremely high speeds, almost like rockets. We did not see any navigational or anti-collision lights on any of the objects.
