Strange, gliding light formation/object on a beach in the Florida Keys

The two of us were sitting on the beach looking at the sky for about an hour. Our eyes had been adjusted and we had seen various shooting stars fly overhead. We were both facing South, and all of a sudden from the East a Chevron shaped object appears, almost looking like it was in a sharp decent. The object continued to travel west at a very fast pace, and within 15 seconds, the object had either disappeared or had already traveled out of sight.

Immediately as the object flew over ahead we both looked at each other and asked if the other had seen this object. We had both initially thought it was an array of lights that resembled some sort of large, cartoon-esque bird/dragonfly. In disbelief we realized that this could not have been the case due to how high and quickly the object travelled. We then both thought that it was a hang glider, but then realized this was impossible due to the height and speed of the object.

Still in disbelief after running through every possibility we are cautiously thinking we saw a UFO of some sort. The reason being as the lights were far brighter than the stars so we knew the object was closer, yet far enough away where it could not have been any sort of animal or man made flight object. It made absolutely no noise and it's motion was still and consistent. We also both realized that the space filled in between the lights, say where the body of the craft would be, was some what distorted from the rest of the starry sky.

As quickly as it appeared, it had disappeared. As two people who took strong stances against the sighting and stories surrounding UFO's we can honestly say we are not trying to convince ourselves that we saw something for a story. We both were on the same page with every detail and interpretation as described above. It's to the point where we both wish that we had never seen it because we are that certain we saw something flying overhead and there is no available proof. I hope that this helps and can say our minds our wandering to places and thinking of things we both never thought possible. It was truly a beautiful, yet terrifying sight to see.
