3 brilliant orange discs, blinking on and off and then quickly disappearing

On the evening of July 21, 2012, I was riding in my car with my husband and mother on rte 36 in York, New York, and saw 3 very bright, orange discs in the sky. They blinked on and off several times, and then vanished.
