Two round white lights with dim trail observed while remote desert camping

This event occurred while on an off road outing over the Memorial Day weekend.

Beginning at the Seven Springs Recreation site North of Carefree, we traveled North/Northwest on the off highway trails that eventually run into the Bloody Basin Rd trail. We setup camp at FR44 about 200 yards South of Bloody Basin Rd.

Around 1:30 a member of our party spotted two out of the ordinary round white lights that appeared to be a part of ONE larger craft with a visible (yet dim) tail/trail behind traveling North/Northeast. It was early morning in Arizona high country, the only thing we could clearly see were the two lights, not the body of the craft.

It is ASSUMPTION that the lights were joined or attached to the same craft as they moved in complete unison and matching speed. I can only describe the light’s physical layout as those you would see on a plane, one light on each side, almost the same as you'd see on aircraft with a light at the tip of each of the wings.

They maintained a very slow (from our perspective) and steady pace and color across the sky, no noise was heard.

The last minute of visibility the lights appeared to turn orange in color, fading in and out of view almost blinking, and then eventually disappeared out of site behind the Mountain Range.

I recently completed 8 years in the United States Air Force and have never witnessed any flying object in the night sky with these characteristics. There were other aircraft visible in the night sky which made real time comparison easy especially with no clouds or obstruction, clear visibility.

We assume that the source of this report is the individual who telephoned our Hotline. If so, he sounded to us to be quite eloquent and objective, in his description of the event. We suspect that the witness is an exceptionally capable, and credible, source of accurate information. PD
