grayish yellow flying boomerang sighted in Orange County

I am a former Military officer and I saw a Chevron shaped object flying at twice the speed of an aircraft on approach flying on a NNE heading.

It was grayish yellow against the darkening evening sky.

The size as compared against the full moon was one for one and it distorted the sky behind it as it traveled.
