two huge bright lights and chemtrail

So last night i was walking home on the phone when i noticed a huge chemtrail (i am guessing this is what it had to be) in the sky, arching the length of the visible sky. It was a clear cold night and there were no clouds. The chemtrail was very obvious because my first thought was "what kind of skywriting plane could have left a trail that thick that isn't dissipating at all?". About 3 minutes later, about a block from my house i noticed a huge light beaming not to hight up in the sky. it was barely above the tree line, i would say a few miles in the distance.

Now i live VERY close to Lagaurdia airport. I know what plane lights look like, and this thing had to be practically over the airport. It was not a plane. It was silent, it was HUGE (i could easily compare it to the actual planes landing and taking off -- this light was 3 times the size at least of any plane), and also it was not changing altitude. It was moving laterally and was making no sound at all. The light was HUGE. I started to get a bit scared and then a second one appeared left and a bit above the first one. At this point i thought to myself that the guys in the tower at laguarding HAVE TO BE SEEING THIS. There was no one around and i decided to walk up to a more populated street to see if anyone else was seeing this.

Then the second one just blinked out. And the first one started to move -- fast. Again, not up down, but sideways. and it seemed like it was rotating, the lights were clearly spinning.

I watched them for about a half hour. Then went into my house and one appeared again about 10 mins later and blinked out again only after 5, but at a much higher altitude.

I tried to take a photo twice but it was too far to look like anything but a huge blob of light.
