white star like object over horizon.

I was standing in my brotyhers back garden playing with my two year old son and i noticed a "star" in the sky, i looked at it for about thirty seconds maybe more it was a clear blue evening sky and it looked like a star would at midnight when really dark out but the light seemed so strong and when my girlfriend came outside i called to her to come over and look, during the time i turned away to call her and turned back it had dissapeared.
