strange change of direction

I was taking out the dog and I was looking up at the sky when I though I saw a shooting star (it looked just like one), then all of a sudden it changed direction. it was pretty much straight above me when it changed direction (like almost a 45% angle) I don't know if it's a UFO or something more "mundane" but it seemed strange to me for it to change direction the way it did. I didn't hear any airplane sounds either. Feel free to email me but I think I wrote everything I can think of right here..
