Early 60's Triangle Craft

While laying on our backs on the sidewalk and talking, I suddenly noticed what I first too to bwe a searchligh sweeping across the sky. Even in the clear desert air a searchlight such as those used at grand openings can be discerned. As I focused on the light it resolved into a V-shape. I could see six points of light and I thought it was six seperate ships but now I believe it might well have been one triangular craft with six light showing. It traveled from a little right of straight up to off the horizon in about 5 seconds. This occured over Davis-Monthan AFB and the craft(s) travelled south toward Mexico. Having been raised in the Air Force and knowing a lot about aircraft, I am sure that it was travelling at least ten times as fast as anything we had in the air at that time.
