The object was sighted by many Los Annelinos according to the local news..

It was about 11:55 p.m. 8-30-03 and my friends and I were outside on an apartment balcony were we have a very good view of mars. I was looking up at sky and there it was a bright red object just hovering what seemed to be right next to mars. It was moving very slowly east to west then up and down sort scanning the area. This was very exciting so I called the local news station Fox 11 news and I got a hold of somebody at the breaking news desk. Well I told her I wanted to report something going on in the sky and before I could tell her anything she said to me "Is this about the red glowing object in the sky?" Apparently my friends and I were not the only ones seeing this. We continued to observe the object as it sort of cruised the sky and then it started to dim as if fading away, then it got bright red again. Then it started heading north were it stopped and then just disappeared, faded out.
