|Flash on moon
I was out watching the Geminid meteor shower. At about 5:50 AM, the moon was rising, almost new (only a thin crescent), and while looking over at it, I observed a a very brief but very clear and brite flash of white light near the center of its umbra. It looked like a strobe going off. It was almost definitely not a meteor (there was no tail, and definitely did not "cross" the moon's disk).
