Saw a row of lights for about two seconds,they disappeared for about a second then the row of lights came on one after the other from right to left and when the last one was lit they all disappeared.

My friend and I walked onto my front porch at around 9:34 p.m. on 9 April 1998. I looked at the sky to the southwest and saw a row of about 8 large/amber color lights. I pointed it out to my friend and she saw them for about a second and asked where they went. About a second or two later the lights came on one at a time from right to left over the same spot we had originally saw the first set. When the last light was lit it was gone again. We continued to look and listen but nothing else happened. I would estimate the object was about 5 miles away and about 1000' to 1500 feet above the ground. I am a former helicopter pilot and a mother. My friend has a professional career.
